Do you use Instagram? If so, how old is your Instagram account? If you created it before 2019, you may not have had to enter your date of birth. But that will change in the foreseeable future. Instagram is gradually starting to require all users to enter this data, the reason being the effort to better protect minors and juvenile users. Today's roundup will also talk about what's new in Google Calendar, which will help you get a better overview of the time you spend in online meetings.

Google adds a new feature to its Calendar for tracking time in online meetings

If you often use office and productivity tools from Google's workshop for your work, we have good news for you. A useful feature will be added to the Google Calendar platform, thanks to which you will be able to get an accurate overview of the time you spent in online meetings and calls. Google announced this news this week in one of the posts on his official blog. The feature will be called Time Insights and will take the form of a special panel in the version of Google Calendar for web browsers. Its gradual spread will take place during this September. Google announced this feature for the first time this March as part of the presentation of the new concept of its Google Workspace platform.

The Time Insights feature will only be available when working with Google Calendar in the web browser interface. As part of it, users get a detailed overview of the time they spent in meetings, along with information on which days and hours these meetings are most often held and what their frequency is. In addition, the Time Insights function will also offer an overview of which people the user spends the most time with in online meetings. Users with administrator privileges will be able to make various settings in this feature and customize it to their needs.

Instagram will want to know your date of birth

When creating a new account on the social network Instagram, it is also possible to enter the exact date of birth, among other things. However, this step is not (yet) mandatory, so many users simply skip it. If you are one of these users, get ready for Instagram to ask you for your date of birth more and more intensively. Instagram started requiring users to enter their date of birth two years ago, but it was possible to skip this step when creating accounts for previously created accounts.

But the creators of Instagram said in the latest press statement that users who did not enter their date of birth when registering in the application should expect that they will be required to enter this information after launching the application. For the time being, it will be possible to ignore or reject these requests, but unfortunately this option will not be permanent. According to Instagram, entering the exact date of birth is absolutely necessary in order to be able to continue using this social network (or the corresponding application). Your date of birth will also be required every time a post that has been flagged as sensitive appears in your news feed. Until now, content of this type only blurred the corresponding photo or video. According to the representatives of the social network Instagram, these requirements are part of the efforts that this platform makes in order to protect minors and juvenile users. In May of this year, there were also reports that he was going to a special version of Instagram for children, which should include numerous security measures and restrictions. However, this news was not met with very positive feedback, and at the moment it is not yet certain whether the implementation of "children's Instagram" will actually happen or not.
