According to the latest reports, the creators of the communication platform WhatsApp are preparing a new feature that could significantly simplify and facilitate listening to incomprehensible voice messages for users. But the mentioned function will certainly come in handy for those who can't or don't want to play voice messages from the WhatsApp application out loud. The source of the mentioned news is again a reliable server BetaInfo, so the probability that we will actually see the voice message transcription feature on WhatsApp over time is quite high.
According to a report on this site, a voice message transcription feature is currently under development for WhatsApp on iOS. It is not yet clear when Apple smartphone owners should expect it, and it is also not clear if this improvement will also be available in WhatsApp for Android devices. According to a screenshot published by WABetaInfo, the transcription of voice messages on WhatsApp will be done by the user first sending the voice data to Apple in order to process their request. WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, will therefore not receive any voice recordings. In the said screenshot, we can also notice text that says that sending voice data will help Apple improve its speech recognition technology. Unfortunately, it is not clear from the screenshot how the relevant data will be secured during the sending to Apple. All voice messages are currently protected by end-to-end encryption on WhatsApp.
Voice messages are a great feature for those times when the sender can't or doesn't want to type on the keyboard. Sometimes, however, it can happen that the addressee receives a voice message in a situation that does not allow him to play it. It is precisely for these cases that the mentioned upcoming function can be useful. But it is not certain in which of the WhatsApp updates it will be available, nor in which languages it will be possible to use it.
Instagram is testing a new feature to tidy up posts
If you follow a large number of accounts on Instagram, you have probably also sometimes missed an interesting post because you simply couldn't get to it in the flood of news. The creators of Instagram want to help users with this problem, so they are currently testing a feature that has a temporary working name of "Favorites". As the name of this feature suggests, it is the ability to add selected Instagram accounts to favorites. Posts from these accounts should then appear first in the news feed. The feature was first pointed out by developer Alessandro Paluzzi. He specified on his Twitter that with the help of the Favorites function, it will be possible to categorize the most important Instagram accounts as favorites, which will be reflected accordingly in the way posts are organized.

The Favorites function was first tested on Instagram back in 2017, but then it had a slightly different form – users could define a specific audience for each of their posts. As with a number of similar cases, it's not certain when the Favorites feature will go live - if ever. For now, according to Instagram, this is an internal prototype.
