It's been almost a year since macOS Big Sur was here with us. After all, it should be replaced by its successor Monterey in a little while. Even so, it still contains an error that makes it difficult for many users to scan documents. And then we have the mobile phone manufacturer Vivo, which has unleashed its imagination and shown a concept that has no parallels.

macOS Big Sur doesn't want to scan

If you use the Image Transfer, Preview, or System Preferences applications to scan documents with certain types of scanners, a significant number of their users report error messages such as Mac failed to open a connection to the device (-21345), where the final number indicates a system problem with the scanner driver. After that, an additional message will appear informing about unauthorized access.

These problems affected especially the owners of HP scanners, who called for help not only on Reddit, but also directly with HP and Apple, which responded by publishing a procedure on how to get around the problem. It actually concerns his system. For a correct scan, close all applications, select Open -> Open folder in the Finder and type /Library/Image Capture/Devices into the path and then press Enter.

A window will open where you double click on the app that was originally mentioned in the error message, which is the name of your scanner. Afterwards, just close the window and open the scanning application, the problem should be fixed. Well, at least for the current session, because it may happen that you have to repeat it again next time. Although Apple is working on a fix, it is not known when it will release a system update.

Vivo and four retractable cameras

The Chinese company Vivo likes to experiment, especially in the field of mobile phone cameras. It has already presented the concept of a phone with gimbal stabilization, but also a miniature drone with a camera that would fly out of the inside of your phone. Now there's a new one that shows the four camera lenses that gradually slide out of the phone's body from largest to smallest.

Thanks to the different focal points of the lenses, Vivo says it can provide more zoom in its phone. The web got hold of the patent LetsGoDigital and based on it he created a possible form of a smartphone. Do you think that a similar solution would have a chance on the market?
