Easter is upon us. The world of technology was relatively quiet during the Easter holidays, but we still got a few news. Two of the news in our roundup today have to do with Google, which not only came up with new advertising, but also brand new features for its Gmail service. The third news concerns the LG company, which has officially announced that it is definitively leaving the world of mobile phones.

Advertising by Google

Some of you may remember an older advertising campaign by Google called "Life is Search" that also ran in our country. It was a series of videos that unfolded different stories through Google searches, with a simple, catchy musical background accompanying the videos.

A new advertisement from Google, which was broadcast at the end of last week, is also in a similar spirit. There is also a view of the main page of the Google search engine together with a piano background. The theme of this year's advertising is probably clear to all of us: the pandemic. Similar to previous campaigns, in the footage we can see expressions being entered into the search engine - this time it was words that almost every one of us entered into Gool at least once, especially last year - quarantine, closing schools or lockdown, but also various online activities. The reaction of the public to each other on social networks did not take long - most people admitted that the ad moved them to tears. How did she impress you?

LG is ending mobile phones

At the end of last week, LG officially announced that it is definitely leaving the mobile phone market. The company also said in its statement that it will continue to try to distribute the rest of its inventory, and that it will, of course, continue to provide mobile phone owners with the necessary service, support and software updates. The proposal to leave the mobile phone market was unanimously approved by the board of directors of LG, the reason for this decision was the long-lasting loss that robbed LG of almost 4,5 billion dollars. In the relevant press statement, LG further stated that leaving the mobile phone market will allow it to focus more on areas such as components for electric vehicles, smart homes, robotics or perhaps artificial intelligence. LG started making mobile phones even before the rise of smartphones – one of its products was, for example, the VX-9800 model with two displays and a hardware QWERTY keyboard, and the hybrid LG Chocolate with the function of an MP3 player also came out of LG's workshop. In December 2006, the LG Prada touch phone was released, followed by the LG Voyager a year later. One of LG's latest ventures in the field of mobile phones is the LG Wing model with a rotating primary 6,8" display and a secondary 3,9" display.

The new Google Chat

Last week, Google announced that Google Chat and Room would also become part of its Gmail service in the future. Until recently, this was only available to users of the Workspace platform, but now Google is taking steps to integrate these features with regular Gmail accounts as well. The mentioned move is part of Google's effort to transform Gmail into a useful tool for work, thanks to which users will be able to handle a number of necessary matters from a single page. The Gmail service will therefore be divided into four different parts - Mail and Meet, which users already know from before, and Chat and Rooms. To activate the new features, just head to the web version of Gmail Settings -> Chat & Meetings.
