It's been a year since the world has been dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. This had a number of surprising connections and consequences - one of them was a drastic change in what people watch, what they enjoy and how much time they spend with these often newly discovered possibilities. COVID-19, with all the related lockdowns, had a very significant impact on, for example, the rocket increase in the number of visitors to platforms such as Facebook Gaming or Twitch. In today's summary of the day, however, we will also talk about other topics. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, for example, decided earlier this week to give himself a royal title. In turn, the chat audio platform Clubhouse is trying to build its own influencer base. How? You will find out in our article.

Elon Musk the king

Elon Musk was given a new title on Monday called "Technoking of Tesla" - or rather, Musk basically awarded this title himself. But nothing changes in Musk's position at Tesla - Musk continues to remain its executive director. Zach Kirkhorn, who works in Musk's company in the position of financial director, also received a new title. Zach Kirkhorn, for a change, won a title called Master of Coin. As bizarre as both of these designations may seem, they are indeed official titles – as the company has reported this fact to the Securities and Exchange Commission. "Effective March 15, 2021, Elon Musk and Zach Kirkhorn's titles changed to 'Technoking of Tesla' and 'Master of Coin,'" stands in the relevant form. However, Tesla did not state what was the reason for the (self) awarding of these titles. Among other things, Elon Musk is famous precisely for his occasional more or less bizarre quirks, which undoubtedly includes this step.

Clubhouse is looking for influencers

The voice chat platform Clubhouse, which also arrived at the beginning of the year, is constantly preparing new functions, offers and interesting news for its users. At the moment, Clubhouse operators are trying to create an attractive environment for influencers as well. Among other things, this effort also includes the creation of a program called Clubhouse Creator First. The aim of this program is to collect and subsequently support twenty creators who will be able to run their own rooms on Clubhouse and gradually build an audience here, but who will also have the opportunity to properly monetize their work through the Clubhouse platform. Those interested in participating in this program can submit their applications until the end of March. However, experts expressed their doubts about the effectiveness of these steps. According to them, those influencers who have already managed to build their audience on other social networks may have a certain chance. However, according to experts, it is practically impossible to trace the metrics used on other platforms to judge the success and degree of influence of creators on Clubhouse. In addition to this program, the Clubhouse management announced a handful of other interesting changes – for example, users now have the ability to share links to their profiles and invite new users via their phone number. The plan is also to introduce a function that will make the application "remember" the languages of the rooms that the user usually joins and, based on this finding, will filter the content offered.

Twitch and Facebook Gaming record

With the coronavirus pandemic came a number of new trends. Since the majority of the population closed themselves in their homes for a long time, people became interested in different things. Viewership of online content, including game content, rose sharply. StreamElements, together with analytics firm Rainmaker.gg, released a report today on how anti-epidemic measures have affected the traffic of platforms such as Facebook Gaming and Twitch. Both mentioned platforms saw a year-on-year increase of an incredible 80% last year – specifically 79% for Facebook Gaming, while 82% for Twitch. Users spent a combined 1,8 billion hours watching Twitch in February of last year, compared to 400 million hours for Facebook Gaming.
