After several months of blocking and deleting posts on Twitter and Facebook, former US President Donald Trump started his own social network. It is not a social network in the true sense of the word, because only he himself contributes to it (so far), but it is possible to share contributions from it to platforms that he himself no longer has access to. In addition to Trump's new social network, our roundup of the day today will also talk about the new speech transcription feature Instagram is rolling out to its Stories.

Donald Trump launched his social network

The former American president, Donald Trump, did not have the easiest time on social networks, especially at the beginning of this year. First, Trump faced problems after he questioned the results of the presidential election in particular on his Twitter account, and after some of his supporters attacked the Capitol building, his account was completely blocked. Since he has also faced problems on other social networks, he has hinted that he will create his own social network for himself and his followers. A few months after he first started talking about the subject, he finally announced its launch. However, some media point out that this is essentially a standard blog. The newly launched Trump platform visually resembles Twitter in a way - or rather, it is actually a blog on which the former US president posts his posts, similar to classic tweets.

Users can subscribe to Trump's posts by registering with their email address and phone number. Allegedly, the possibility of "liking" posts should also be added to the network over time, but it was not yet available at the time of writing this article. Posts from Trump's newly established network should also be able to be shared on Twitter and Facebook, but according to available reports, only Facebook sharing works. In this context, a Twitter spokesperson said that any content that does not violate its rules and conditions of use can be shared on the relevant social network. Trump's social network was officially launched on Tuesday, but some posts date back as far as March 24. The news platform Fox News stated that in the future the network should also allow Donald Trump to interact with his followers, but it is not yet clear how this direct communication should take place.

New feature in Instagram Stories

The popular social network Instagram is constantly trying to improve its features. It focuses on Stories and Reels features rather than photos, and in the former, users now have the option of placing automatic speech transcription. This feature is currently only available in English and for English-speaking regions, but should expand further in the future. Instagram management confirmed this week that the feature will also be tested for Reels. The function of transcription of speech will be especially welcomed by users who have any hearing problems, but it will also come in handy for those who are not very proficient in foreign languages. Similar to regular text in Instagram Stories, users can also adjust the font size, color, or style of the speech transcription, as well as edit individual words and punctuation.
