The weekend is upon us. What did he bring in the field of events from the world of technology? Musk's SpaceX's Crew Dragon Endeavor spacecraft successfully docked with the International Space Station on Saturday. Popular discussion platform Reddit is facing a new lawsuit for failing to deal with the repeated posting of inappropriate content, and Sony is finally investigating the problems some PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners are facing.

Reddit faces lawsuit over objectionable content

The popular discussion platform Reddit has to face a lawsuit from a woman whose ex-boyfriend uploaded pornographic images of her when she was sixteen to the said site. The incriminating photos have been published repeatedly on Reddit. The woman, who goes by the pseudonym Jane Doe, says that Reddit is knowingly benefiting from the authorities' lax approach to content rules, including pornographic content. The publication of her photos and videos without her consent took place in 2019, while the person in question was not even aware that the material in question had been taken at all. Although she pointed out everything to the moderators of the relevant subreddit, she had to wait several days for the content to be removed.

Meanwhile, Reddit administrators allowed her ex-boyfriend to create a new user account after the original one was terminated. Since Reddit did not provide the woman with the support she required, she had to check dozens of subreddits herself where her ex-boyfriend posted the said material. According to her own words, Jane Doe had to spend several hours a day doing this activity. Now Jane Doe is accusing Reddit of distributing child pornography, failing to report child abuse material, and violating the Human Trafficking Victims Protection Act. The lawsuit states, among other things, that Reddit's administrators knew that their platform served, among other things, as a place for the distribution of illegal photos and videos, and yet they did not take any significant action.

Investigating PlayStation issues

According to the latest information, Sony is said to have recently started investigating the cause of the problems with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 gaming consoles. This month, some users reported problems with the CMOS battery of the PlayStation 4 gaming console - the moment the battery died, players could no longer play games offline unless they have signed in to PlayStation Network first. If this connection was not possible for any reason, the given console suddenly became an unnecessary piece of electronics. This issue has also been reported to a lesser extent with PlayStation 5 consoles. However, at the time of writing, Sony has not yet issued an official statement on the matter, and it is not clear how it will address the issues. Some believe that the company might try to somehow sweep the whole thing under the carpet for fear of negative PR.
