Among the most discussed topics in recent days - at least in our country - is certainly the merger of Avast and NortonLifeLock. The Czech Avast is now going under NortonLifeLock, and a number of interesting antivirus and security products are also expected to emerge from the merger. In addition to this news, our roundup today will also talk about the upcoming public beta version of Diablo II: Resurrected.

Merger of Avast and NortonLifeLock

The domestic company Avast, famous especially for its antivirus and other security-oriented products and services, is now under NortonLifeLock. Even after the merger, one of the headquarters will continue to be located in Prague, the other in Tempe, Arizona. "A world leader in cyber security focused on end users will be created, combining the power of Avast in privacy protection and NortonLifeLock in identity protection," said Ondřej Vlček, CEO of Avast, in connection with the merger of the two companies. Domestic Avast has been operating on the market since the second half of the nineties, its products are popular with both individual users and companies and institutions.

“With this merger, we can strengthen our cybersecurity platform and make it available to more than 500 million users. We will also gain the ability to further accelerate cybersecurity innovation and transformation," NortonLifeLock CEO Vincent Pilette commented on the deal. The aforementioned collaboration could certainly result in a number of interesting security and anti-virus products that will be able to boast of the best that the services and products of both mentioned companies have to offer. A wide variety of products and services focused on cyber security have recently become more and more desirable goods. According to a number of statistics, the incidence of malicious software of all kinds is on the rise, and ransomware in particular has recently been considered one of the most common threats, which is often not avoided even by large companies and institutions.

Beta version of Diablo II: Resurrected

Those who can't wait for the upcoming game title Diablo II: Resurrected will be able to find out this week. The creators of the game are preparing to release a beta version for its fans. Players who pre-ordered the game will get access to the beta this Friday, August 13th. A week later, on August 20, the public beta version of Diablo II: Resurrected will be released to the world, which all other interested parties will be able to play. The full version of the game will be officially released on September 23 this year. Unfortunately, the Diablo II: Resurrected beta version will not be available for owners of Nintendo Switch game consoles, but it will be playable on PC, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X game consoles, and on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles. The beta test will also include multiplayer regime. Blizzard, the company behind this popular title, has been facing a lot of criticism lately. The reason is an investigation related to allegations of sexual harassment and pay inequality at the headquarters of partner company Activision Blizzard. It is for this reason that a number of players have made it known that in solidarity with the workers of Activision Blizzard they will not play any of the titles originating from the workshop of this company.
