The author of the article is Smarty.cz: The presentation of this year's new iPhones is already some Friday behind us. Since then, we've already seen a lot of video reviews, seen almost all the photos of these new products, and some of us even went to Apple stores to get our hands on the phones. Now what? Christmas is approaching and a handful of you are definitely thinking about which model to buy for yourself or someone close to you. If the recipient is a woman, she will certainly have similar claims to us. We don't care how many cores the processor has, whether the aluminum is aircraft-grade or what the processor's frequency is. Come and see the apple world with the girls from Smarty.
First of all, we thought about which device we are actually "switching" from to the new iPhone. From iPhone 6? iPhone 7? Or from Samsung? Switching from an iPhone to an iPhone is much easier than switching from an Android phone. You sign in to your Apple ID, upload your iCloud backup to your new device, and it's like you don't even have a new phone. Everything is where it was before, including the last missed call. That's why we chose the path of greater resistance and activated the phones as new devices. After a few days of testing, we recommend this method even to die-hard Applists - it will force you to look for features that you often don't even know about when exchanging iPhone for iPhone.
And then the actual testing began. We've been swapping iPhone XS and iPhone XR in the office for a few weeks, discovering what each model has to offer. The first thing that came to mind after unboxing the iPhones was the design. For women, it's always about design, even if we sometimes say how we understand those phones. The XS model attracts with its premiumness and psychologically with its higher price - in short, the rumor is true that a more expensive phone equals greater luxury. It worked for consumers, it works and it will always work. With its six color versions, XRko focuses more on trends and thus on younger users. With this phone, Apple really stepped out of its uniform world and let itself be carried away perfectly.
The second most important feature of the phone is the size. It is optimal for a woman when it is possible to hold it with only one hand. We all know it. Every morning we rush to the subway, coffee in one hand, phone in the other hand, juggling our bag and not wanting to drop either. Especially the coffee. Older iPhone models range from 4 to 5,5”, which is the borderline size of a one-handed phone. And here is the problem with the XS and XR. A great helper in this case is the function to reduce the upper half of the screen, which you turn on by simply swiping your finger down the bottom edge. But a one-handed is just a one-handed, well.
Another improvement is the function of moving the keyboard to the right or left so that the thumbs are within reach. Super cool. At least with the XS. The entire design of the iPhone XR is even wider, and the option to activate the keyboard shift is located in the lower left corner, so you would need to have a shifted keyboard to move your keyboard. Vicious circle and point for XS.
The biggest issue is definitely the display. Everyone discusses the bezels, but honestly, they're nothing to get used to for us. More important are the properties of the display, such as color and backlight. The iPhone XS offers a high-quality OLED panel with the True Tone function, which melts in warm colors and adapts very well to lighting conditions. The XR, on the other hand, has an LCD display colored in rather cold shades and, thanks to True Tone, maintains a high luminosity in all conditions. It's a mixed bag here - someone is a fan of warm shades, someone cold. And although the resolution is undeniably better than the XS, we are reluctant to simply condemn the iPhone XR's display.
One of the most important aspects for us was the quality of the camera. And we are certainly not alone. The level of the front camera is comparable with the iPhone XS and XR, so it is possible to evaluate perhaps only the feeling of holding the phone while taking photos. Paradoxically, the iPhone XR won outright here, which is larger, but perhaps thanks to its wide body, it fits better in the palm of your hand. The iPhone XR will therefore be appreciated by all selfie-takers and vloggers who probably don't even turn off the front camera.
The rear camera is a different story. There is definitely something to evaluate here. If you look at the illustration photos, you'll discover, like us, that the iPhone XR can only do the much-loved blurred background effect if you point your phone at a human face. It does not automatically recognize objects, dogs or even children. But that doesn't mean you can't add an effect afterwards. In this regard, the iPhone XS is equipped with one extra lens in hardware, and therefore it is slightly better. When we took both devices out into the world and shot outdoors, the quality is absolutely equally breathtaking. 10 out of 10.
And what is our conclusion? Both premium iPhones have the best possible features that can be expected from the top class. Although the iPhone XR received a wave of criticism, we found no evidence in this colorful play that it should be lagging behind its competitors in any way. It belongs in its price category iPhone XS a XR to the best, their displays are of high quality, the cameras even better and the design simply perfect. Plus. Do you know how excited your girlfriend will be about the yellow one?!?
There should be a verdict at the end of the fight. He is missing here. And since I am solving this dilemma right now, the article confused me more than it helped.
I've always preferred iPhones, but if you want to sell me a stripped-down model for the price of an Android flagship, and Apple's flagship model costs almost 10k more. More, and apart from the system, which is also not worth much anymore, it has no extra function, so unfortunately this is probably the end. When the iPhone had a 3,5-4" display, I understood why they didn't want to put two applications next to each other at the same time, when the iPhone had a 5,5" it seemed stupid, but now that it has a 6,5" iPhone, it's just pathetic and complete disregard for functionality. So if I have to compare the train ship from Apple with the competition, instead of paying 35 for Apple, I'd rather give 22 for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro or the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, which have much better options for work and I would even say that the system is compared to iOS similar in terms of speed and reliability.
I personally bought my wife an XS in gold color. And full satisfaction. My son "greedily" wanted an XS Max and I? I waited and maybe I waited. I personally liked the XR after actually trying it out. Such an ideal size between XS and XS Max. Now I have IP7+ and I am struggling. It's a paddle. I don't want a shovel like that anymore.
