Realmac Software, creators of the popular Mac applications LittleSnapper and Rapidweaver, announced the purchase of the EventBox application (a multi-protocol client primarily for social networks). They will continue to develop this application and release it under the new name Socialite in November.

If you like to spend your free time on social networks and like to follow what's new, then Socialite is probably the perfect candidate to buy. Socialite can manage Twitter, Facebook, Google Reader, Digg, Flickr, Identi.ca, OneRiot, Reddit as well as separate RSS subscriptions.

EventBox wasn't a bad app at all, and since it's a native Mac app (no Adobe Air), it was also very fast. The people at Realmac Software liked it so much that they bought it and intend to develop it further. The current version of Socialite (for now still called EventBox) you can download from here. If Socialite interests you, I recommend following theirs Twitter feed.

Socialite 1.0 is expected to appear in November of this year with a price tag of $20. If you are the owner of EventBox, you don't have to be sorry that a new company has taken over the development, rather the opposite. After the release of Socialite 1.0, the authors will send you a new license and you certainly don't have to worry about the further development of this interesting client. And if you used Eventbox Macheist to try it out, the authors will offer you this application at a discount.
