Siri on Mac can help you control your computer, schedule events, reminders and tasks, or even listen to music. Just like on the iPhone, Apple's voice assistant in the environment of the macOS operating system offers a lot of customization and setting options. Here are five tips and tricks to customize Siri on your Mac to the max.

Voice selection

Among other things, the macOS operating system also allows you to choose which voice Siri will speak to you. To change Siri voice and accent on Mac, click  menu -> System Preferences -> Siri in the top left corner. In the Voice of Siri section, you can choose between a female and a male voice, and in the drop-down menu under Voice Variant, you can also choose an accent.

Deactivation of the display in the top bar

By default, your Mac displays the Siri icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. This step is useful if you don't want to use Siri at all on your Mac. In the upper left corner of the screen, click  menu -> System Preferences. Select the Dock and menu bar, point to the Siri section in the panel on the left side of the window, and disable Show in menu bar.

Typed Siri commands

Not every user is necessarily comfortable talking to Siri, not to mention that in some cases this style of communication with your voice assistant is simply not appropriate. If you prefer written commands for Siri on a Mac, click the  menu -> System Preferences in the upper left corner of the screen. Choose Accessibility, in the panel on the left side of the window, point down and in the General section, choose Siri. Finally, all that remains is to check the Enable text input for Siri option.

Privacy Protection

Some users are worried that Siri on their Mac might be eavesdropping on them. One option to at least partially protect your privacy in this regard is to disable the sending of data to improve Siri and dictation. In the upper left corner, click  menu -> System Preferences. Choose Security & Privacy, choose Privacy from the menu at the top, and in the panel on the left, head all the way down where you click on Analytics and Enhancements. Here, finally disable the Enhance Siri and Dictation option.

Delete history

As you use Siri (and not only) on your Mac, records of what you searched for and how you spoke to Siri are also saved. But you can easily and quickly delete this history. Just click on the  menu -> System Preferences -> Siri in the upper left corner of your Mac screen. Here click on Delete Siri and Dictation history and confirm by clicking on Delete.
