It's already such a nice annual tradition. The season of pickles and leaks from Apple is knocking on the door. The term of any keynote or the upcoming launch of a new product or model reliably unleashes a whirlwind of various, quite often contradictory rumors, conjectures, information and images of hardware or software not yet announced.
Secrets and leaks
In the past, it has been confirmed several times that published images of new products are genuine. Apple failed to secure test pieces of the iPhone 4 and 4S. First time with an Apple employee got drunk in a bar and forgot the iPhone 4 prototype in it, which was acquired by the Gizmodo server for $5000. In the second case, Vietnamese traders managed to buy a yet-to-be-released 4S model. After these "leaks", Tim Cook stated that the company will do its best to prevent any information from being leaked.
The company manages to keep the news out of the eyes of the uninvited, Apple carefully guards its secrets. An example is the iMac model from 2012, AirPort Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme and the Mac Pro computer were introduced at the first keynote of the year. Nobody suspected anything, there was practically no speculation about the news. The only information from Apple was a message: We look forward to showing you the Mac Pro.
But sometimes supposedly real pictures can serve as a joke. The "designers" of special iPhone screws know their stuff. What "accidentally" gets into the public, but quite often, is not an accident. Some of this information and misinformation is intentionally omitted by Apple. This is done by reliable channels such as The Wall Street Journal. Would-be "leaks" can be used to test users' reactions to upcoming news.
A separate chapter are blogs or websites that practically no one knows, but they still publish information and images about yet-to-be-revealed products. The reason may be the effort to publish a sensational revelation. Quite often, however, it is only an increase in traffic.
At the present time, a wave of emotions is unleashed by several leaked photos of various parts and even the entire yet to be announced iPhone model. So what does that mean? Apple is likely finalizing a version that is already heading to production lines. A big wave of leaks may just be waiting for us.
A thrill for electronic fetishists
From time to time images are published of some components that are yet to appear in future products. This wave of revelations is somewhat passing me by. Is this the antenna of the new phone? This part here is the camera? And what's so exciting about a printed circuit board? They are only partial components. Beta version of the operating system? Until I have the final product in hand, I avoid any kind of evaluation. With Apple, it's not just hardware, nor just software. Both of these parts form one indivisible whole. We may only know partial pieces of the whole mosaic. We have space to let our imaginations work. But I won't let my autumn surprise be spoiled.
The last paragraph? PERFECT!! Totally my opinion, and I like that the Apple magazine editor added to it. Keep it up!! ;)
Well, mainly thanks to these leaks, the keynote is terribly boring and there is no wow. The last keynote was proof of that, almost nothing was missed and I enjoyed it again after a long time. Even though I hate iOS7 in its current form, it doesn't change the fact that no fetishist anywhere has revealed what it will look like, what the cooler of the new MacPro looks like, and the like.
It would be enough if some tabloid appLeS websites didn't write about it all the time. :-)
