Today's updates for the beta versions of the iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite operating systems brought, as in previous versions, several minor novelties and improvements in addition to the usual bug fixes, which the systems are still full of. Of the two OSes, OS X is richer in news in terms of meaning, the most interesting addition being the dark color theme. In addition, developers will also get access to two unreleased app updates that are currently in beta – Find My Friends a Find My iPhone.

iOS beta 8 3

  • A new announcement in beta gives users the option to upgrade to iCloud Drive, Apple's cloud storage not unlike Dropbox. A new iCloud Drive section has also been added to iCloud Settings. As the text of the announcement suggests, files stored in iCloud Drive will also be accessible from a web browser via iCloud.com.
  • The Hand Off function, which allows you to continue actions in the application on another device, can be turned off thanks to the new switch v Settings > General.
  • In the keyboard settings, a new option has been added to completely disable Quick Type, the predictive word suggestion function. However, with Quick Type turned on, it is still possible to hide the bar above the keyboard by dragging.
  • There are several new wallpapers in the system, see image.
  • In the Weather application, the display of information has changed slightly. The details are now displayed in two columns instead of one, taking up less vertical space on the display.
  • Users now have the option to sign in to App Analytics, a service provided by third-party developers for determining the causes of app crashes and further analysis.
  • In the message settings, a switch has been added to preserve video and audio messages. By default, messages are automatically deleted after a certain period of time so that they do not take up space unnecessarily. The user will now have the option to keep all multimedia messages and possibly delete them manually.
  • Shared Photo Streams in the Photos app have been renamed to Shared albums. If you use Aperture to manage your photos, Events and Albums from it are available again in the third beta
  • The button for deleting notifications in the Notification Center has been slightly improved.
  • Developers have access to beta versions Find My iPhone 4.0 a Find My Friends 4.0. in the first mentioned application, support for family sharing has been added, and in Find My Friends you can synchronize the list of friends to iCloud.
  • Apple TV beta 2 update has also been released

OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 3

  • Dark Mode is finally available in the system appearance settings. Until now, it was only possible to activate it with a command in the Terminal, but it was clear that the mode is far from finished. Now it is possible to turn it on officially.
  • Bookmarked folders in Safari are accessible from the address bar.
  • App badges are larger and the font in the Notification Center and Favorites Bar in Safari has also been improved.
  • The icons in the Mail application have received a redesign.
  • QuickTime Player got a new icon that goes hand in hand with the look of OS X Yosemite.
  • Minor improvements can be seen in iCloud settings and desktop wallpapers.
  • FaceTime Audio and Video are now separated by a switch.
  • Time Machine has a brand new look.
