Apple can't be proud of its new Apple TV+ streaming service and fully stands behind it, but users' opinions differ. Embarrassing reactions were received not only by some content, but also by the promised function. Recently, for example, there have been reports from users that programs within the streaming service are no longer played on the Apple TV 4K in Dolby Vision, but only in the "less sophisticated" HDR10 standard.

While Dolby Vision support for the aforementioned programs worked without any problems at first, viewers are now complaining about its absence – these are currently the series For All Mankind, See and The Morning Show. One affected user on Apple's support forum reported that when he started watching See a few weeks ago, his TV automatically switched to Dolby Vision. At the moment, however, according to him, there is no switching and the series is played only in HDR format. According to this particular user, this appears to be a problem directly related to the Apple TV+ service, as content from Netflix automatically switches to Dolby Vision on his TV without any problems.

Gradually, users who noticed the same problem with the series The Morning Show or For All Mankind spoke up in the discussion. They all agree that they haven't changed the settings on their TV or any other devices. “This week [Dolby Vision] works fine in other apps (Disney+), but Apple TV+ content no longer plays in Dolby Vision,” said one user, while another notes that the shows page still has the Dolby Vision logo, but only the HDR format is now listed for individual episodes.

Apple has yet to officially comment on the issue. Discussants are speculating that there may have been an issue with the Dolby Vision encoding, and Apple has temporarily disabled the toggle until the issue is resolved. But that wouldn't explain the fact that some shows - like Dickinson for example - are still played in Dolby Vision.
