Ondrej Holzman In April, we wrote about a new and fresh application Scanbot, which stirred the waters of mobile scanners. Development studio dead but he is not going to rest on his laurels and in version 2.5 he is raising the application to the next level. However, you have to pay once more for the so-called Pro functions, which mainly include OCR.
Already in its first version, Scanbot was a very capable tool for scanning documents, which was characterized above all by its great simplicity and speed. In June discovered also an application for iPad, and now more news is coming - in version 2.5, it is possible to add "professional" functions to Scanbot, which will add the ability to recognize scanned text, change color themes and automatically and smartly name files.
It should be noted that Scanbot is no longer free in the base. Depending on the current discount, it costs less than two or one euro. If you then want to use all the new features added in version 2.5, you have to pay another almost five euros (125 crowns). For free in the latest version, everyone gets only the sending of PDF documents to Scanbot and higher scanning quality.
The key to deciding whether to buy Pro features will be the fact whether you continue to work with the scanned texts or just view them. If you want to continue working with documents and specifically the text in them, you will really appreciate the OCR (optical character recognition) method for digitizing printed text.
After scanning, Scanbot processes the document and then presents its content in digital form. In addition, you can mark, copy and further work with the text directly in the scanned image, you do not need to switch to the digital form of the text via the middle button in the bottom bar. OCR is not always 100% accurate, but the key is that it also understands Czech characters very well, so it is not a problem to scan and then work with Czech texts.
In addition to OCR, you also get the option of smart naming of saved documents for 4,5 euros. In the settings, you choose a key (e.g. [Scan] [Date] [Time]) and the newly acquired documents are automatically saved according to it. You can insert other automatic variables such as year or month, as well as your own text, into the title. And for those who don't like Scanbot's basic red theme, the developers have prepared seven additional color themes after purchasing the Pro function.

OCR text will create, but not offer to share, copying must be used, which is a big "brake"
