Samsung doesn't like a potential ban on the sale of some of its older products that Apple is demanding. Therefore, on Thursday, the South Korean company expressed in court that Apple's request is only an attempt to create fear among mobile operators and sellers who offer Samsung products...

Currently, Apple is demanding a sales ban only for older Samsung devices, which are no longer even available, but such a ban would set a dangerous precedent for Samsung, and Apple could then want to extend the ban to other devices as well. This is exactly what Samsung's legal representative Kathleen Sullivan told Judge Lucy Koh on Thursday.

"The injunction could create fear and uncertainty among carriers and retailers with whom Samsung has very important relationships," Sullivan said. However, Apple's lawyer, William Lee, countered that the jury had already found two dozen devices infringing Apple's patents, and that the iPhone maker was losing money as a result. "The natural result is an injunction," Lee responded.

Judge Kohová has already rejected this ban requested by Apple once. But the court of appeals the whole case returned back and gave Apple hope that in the renewed proceedings succeeds.

Apple wants to use a court injunction to get Samsung to stop copying its products. Samsung understandably doesn't like it, because with such a court decision, there would not necessarily be endless, years-long legal battles over patents, and Apple could ask for a ban on other, newer products much faster and with a better chance of success.

Lucy Koh has not yet indicated when she is going to make a decision on this matter.
