On the occasion of this year's CES 2022 trade fair, Samsung presented a new smart monitor, the Smart Monitor M8, which can impress with its great design at first glance. In this regard, it can even be said that the South Korean giant was slightly inspired by the redesigned 24″ iMac from last year. But for many apple lovers, this piece will become an ideal addition to their Mac. As we mentioned above, this is a so-called smart monitor, which contains a number of interesting functions and technologies, thanks to which it is possible to use it for work, for example, even without a computer. So an interesting question arises. Will we ever see something similar from Apple?

How Samsung Smart Monitor works

Before we look at the theoretical smart monitor from Apple, let's say a little more about how this product line from Samsung actually works. The company has been receiving a standing ovation for this line for a long time, and it's no wonder. In short, connecting the world of monitors and TVs makes sense, and for some users it is the only choice. In addition to simply displaying the output, the Samsung Smart Monitor can instantly switch to the smart TV interface, which is also offered by other Samsung TVs.

In this case, it is possible to immediately switch to, for example, streaming services and watch multimedia content, or connect a keyboard and mouse via the available connectors and Bluetooth and start office work through the Microsoft 365 service without having to have a computer. In short, there are several options, and a remote control is even available for easier control. To make matters worse, there are also technologies such as DeX and AirPlay for content mirroring.

The novelty in the form of Smart Monitor M8 is even 0,1 mm thinner than the mentioned iMac with M1 and brings USB-C with support for up to 65W charging, a moving SlimFit webcam, brightness in the form of 400 nits, 99% sRGB, thin frames and a great design. As for the panel itself, it offers a diagonal of 32″. Unfortunately, Samsung has not yet revealed more detailed technical specifications, release date or price. Previous series SmartMonitor M7 anyway, it now comes out to almost 9 thousand crowns.

Smart monitor presented by Apple

So wouldn't it be worthwhile for Apple to tackle its own smart monitor? It is certain that a similar device would be welcomed by many apple growers. In such a case, for example, we could have a monitor available that could be switched to the tvOS system in an instant, for example, and without the need to connect any device to watch multimedia content or play games - after all, in the same way as is the case with the classic Apple TV. But there is a catch, due to which we probably won't see anything like it anytime soon. With this step, the Cupertino giant could easily overshadow the aforementioned Apple TV, which would no longer make such sense. Most of today's televisions already offer smart functions, and more and more question marks hang over the future of this multimedia center with the bitten apple logo.

However, if Apple were to come to the market with something similar, it could be expected that the price would not be entirely friendly. In theory, the giant could thus discourage a number of potential users from purchasing, and they would still proceed to the friendlier Smart Monitor from Samsung, whose price tag is acceptable due to the functions with closed eyes. However, we understandably do not know what Apple's plans are and we cannot say with precision whether we will ever see a smart monitor from its workshop or not. Would you like a similar device, or do you prefer traditional monitors and televisions?
