The next Galaxy Unpacked event, as Samsung calls its keynote featuring the introduction of new mobile phones, is scheduled for August 10. Does Apple have anything to worry about? Even if he could, he probably won't. Thus, Samsung will still remain number one, and Apple, after the introduction of the iPhone 14, will remain in unchallenged second place.

Of course, we are talking about the number of smartphones sold in the global market, in which Samsung is the king and Apple is behind it. But the planned event can only half compete with Apple, if you can even call it that. We will learn here the form and specifications of Samsung's new flexible phones, which have their competition mostly exclusively in the form of Chinese manufacturers and at most the Motorola Razr. The situation with smart watches can be more interesting, but since Samsung's Wear OS 3 ones do not communicate with iPhones, they cannot be considered a direct competitor to the Apple Watch either. Then all that's left is the headphones.

Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4

The invitation itself clearly refers to the fact that we will see new generations of jigsaw puzzles here. After all, it's not even a secret. It's like Apple planning a September event - also everyone knows it's going to be about iPhones (and the Apple Watch). The Z Fold4 will have a design that opens like a book, while the Z Flip4 will be based on the previously popular clamshell design.

No dizzying design changes are expected, or anything more than an intergenerational jump in specifications. The main thing will again revolve around the construction of the joint, which should be smaller and more decent. It is also associated with the much-criticized bending of the display, which is more than noticeable when the device is open. If Samsung still doesn't manage to completely eliminate it, it should at least be noticeably less intrusive.

What about Apple? Nothing. These two models have no one to compete with in Apple's portfolio. Samsung is not late, and until there is full-fledged and worldwide competition on the market, it has to roll out one model after another and increase their popularity so that it can properly earn from it and profit from the new segment.

Of course, the four in the name indicates the generation of the product. So Samsung cannot be denied the effort to innovate in this. Whether Apple's foldable devices make sense or not, they are here and more will probably be added (at least Motorola is preparing a new Razr and Chinese production is not sleeping either). Apple is simply 4 years behind and many might be worried that it won't miss the bandwagon. After all, consider how Nokia fared, which didn't quite capture the arrival of the new generation of smartphones after the introduction of the iPhone (and Sony Ericcson and Blackberry and others).

Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro

The new duo of watches will be rejuvenated between generations, will have circular displays and Wear OS, which was created in collaboration between Samsung and Google. This is an answer to watchOS that is more than usable. Not even if the entire system is actually copied. However, this does not detract from the quality of the Samsung watch. The 4th generation were very pleasant, and above all, finally fully usable. Just imagine the Apple Watch with a round case in the Android world.

One model will be basic, the other professional. And it's a shame. Now we had one basic model and another classic model, which offered control with the help of a hardware rotating bezel, which the Pro model should supposedly get rid of. It will be replaced by software, after all, as offered by the Galaxy Watch4. The company thus intends to get rid of the main weapon against the Apple Watch and its crown rather pointlessly. After all, they won't offer it here, they will rely on buttons.

It is quite difficult to say whether this is a competitor for the Apple Watch. Their sales are hard to reach, and they won't attract their customers because they don't communicate with iPhones. The user would then have to switch completely, and probably few people will want to do that just for the sake of the watch.

Galaxy Buds2 Pro

The last novelty that we should expect as part of the Galaxy Unpacked event will be new TWS headphones. Like the AirPods Pro, these also carry the same designation clearly referring to the fact that they are intended for demanding users. The Galaxy Buds2 Pro should bring improved sound quality, better ANC (ambient noise cancellation) performance and a bigger battery. It can be assumed that, as part of pre-sales, the company will give them to its jigsaw puzzles for free, something completely unheard of at Apple.

What about Apple?

In September, Apple will introduce iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8, with a little surprise, some durable version of them and possibly AirPods Pro 2. Probably nothing more and nothing less. There will be no more puzzles, so it will continue in the old ways. Even so, the whole world will be dealing with these products, and therefore, even if those at Galaxy Unpacked won't make much of Apple, it is necessary to present them in a somewhat uncomfortably dry summer, because after September they might not be of much interest to anyone.
