If you are interested in the happenings in the world of Apple, then you surely did not miss the release of the first public version of macOS Monterey a few weeks ago. The Apple company released this system after almost half a year of waiting - it was introduced already in June, at WWDC21. In our magazine, we are not only constantly focusing on this system, as it is full of new functions. So if you want to get the most out of macOS Monterey and know all the new features, then keep reading. In this article, we will focus on Safari.

Synchronization of the homepage

If you are among the long-term users of the macOS operating system, then you certainly did not miss the significant improvement of Safari with the release of the previous version of Big Sur. In this version, Apple has come up with a redesign of the design and has also introduced several new features. One of the new features was also the option to edit the start page. This means that we can finally manually set which elements should be displayed on the start page, or we can change their order. Anyway, the option to change the start page was added to iOS only with version iOS 15, i.e. this year. If you would like to activate the synchronization of the appearance of the start page on all devices, you just need to go to the Mac on they went to the home page, then tap on the bottom right settings icon and finally enabled the option Use splash page on all devices.

Private transfer

In addition to the fact that Apple came up with new versions of its operating systems this year, we also saw the introduction of a "new" service called iCloud+. This service is available simply to all individuals who subscribe to iCloud, i.e. those who do not use the free plan. There are several new security features available in iCloud+, including Private Transfer. It can hide your IP address, information about your Internet browsing and location from network providers and websites when using Safari. Thanks to this, no one can find out who you actually are, where you are located and possibly which pages you visit. If you would like to (de)activate Private Transmission, go to System Preferences -> Apple ID -> iCloud, where the function Activate private transfer.

Groups of panels

If you are not among the users who tested the beta version of macOS Monterey and Safari in it, then I have really interesting news for you. Safari, now available in the public version of macOS Monterey, was originally intended to look completely different. In the beta versions of macOS Monterey, Apple came up with a complete redesign of the upper part of Safari, which became more modern and simpler. Unfortunately, some users didn't like it, so at the last minute, a few days before the public release of macOS Monterey, it reverted to the old look. Fortunately, he didn't remove Panel Groups, that is, the new feature that is hidden right at the top of the window. Within this feature, you can create different panel groups that you can easily switch between. For example, you can have work matters in one group, and entertainment in the other. Thanks to panel groups, you can simply move to the group you want to work in, and you don't have to worry about anything else. A new group of panels you create by tapping on small arrow icon top left. The list of panel groups can also be found here, or you can view it in the side panel.

Hide IP address from trackers

When you browse the Internet, various websites can access your IP address. This IP address can then be used to find out your personal data, possibly to find out your location, etc. Safari can now protect all this data by simply hiding your IP address from known trackers. If you want to hide your IP address from trackers, go to Safari, then click on in the top bar Safari -> Preferences -> Privacy, where enough activate possibility Hide your IP address from trackers.  Anyway, this feature is part of the mentioned Private Transfer feature, which means that if you want to use it, you have to have iCloud+. Otherwise, this feature will not be available.

Quick notes

macOS Monterey also includes a new feature called Quick Notes. This feature is not only available within Safari, but system-wide in general. Anyway, using Quick Notes in Safari seems to be the best. You can use Quick Notes whenever you want to jot something down immediately and don't want to open the native Notes app to do so. Instead, just hold down on the keyboard command, and then they drove over cursor to the lower right corner of the screen. A small window will appear here, in which it is enough tap and open a quick note. In addition to text, you can insert images, page links, and more into this Quick Note. Once you close a smart note, it's saved in the Notes app, but you can return to it at any time. Additionally, a quick note can be created in Safari by mark some text, you tap on it right click and you choose Add to quick note.
