Parallels has announced a new version of its virtualization tool for Mac that brings support for Windows 10. With Parallels Desktop 11, you can run OS X El Capitan on your Mac and Windows 10 at the same time, while the intelligent personal assistant Cortana can also be fully functional and always on, which is Redmond's version of Siri. However, it has not yet reached computers.

Parallels Desktop 11 is a virtualization tool that allows you to use two operating systems side by side - OS X El Capitan and Windows 10 - without the user having to restart the computer. So you can use a Mac app in one window and another Windows-only app in another.

The latest version of Parallels Desktop also brings Quick Look for Windows documents, Travel Mode temporarily shutting down demanding processes to extend battery life, location services for Windows applications and an easier upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1.

In terms of performance, Parallels Desktop 11 is said to be 50% faster at boot or shutdown, with up to 15% longer battery life and up to 20% faster.

As part of a 14-day trial, you can try the new Parallels Desktop to see if it's worth paying $80 (just under 2 crowns). If you own Parallels Desktop 000, the upgrade will cost you only 9 dollars (50 crowns). Also available for $1 per year are Business and Pro editions with a faster 220GB of virtual RAM for each virtual machine and expanded 100-hour phone and email support.
