There are Czech applications in the App Store like saffron. Therefore, it is always welcome when something new and meaningful appears. The latest addition to this segment is the MojeVýdaje application from the Czech developer Marek Přidal. As its name suggests, the application allows the user to easily get an overview of how much and, most importantly, what they spend their money on.

There are countless applications for monitoring expenses, MojeVýdaje mainly focuses on simple operation and an intuitive interface. In short, the user adds everything he just spent money on to the app. Thanks to this, he gets a relatively detailed overview of how much he spends daily or monthly on items from the selected category (food, clothes, entertainment). The statistics are also available in a simple graph that offers a quick overview of which day, month or even year was more financially demanding.

When entering a specific expense, in addition to the amount itself, it is possible to choose a currency (there are more than 150 to choose from), add a note, assign the expense to a category, specify the date and also have the current location recorded. Although all data must be entered into the application manually, the whole process is actually really simple and takes a maximum of ten seconds.

Categories also play an important role in MojeVýdaje. Even these are created by the user himself, and there are no limits to imagination. Therefore, it is not necessary to limit yourself to only basic items such as food, clothing or entertainment. In short, you can create any category and get an overview of how much you spend on specific items. For example, I myself monitor how much I spend on sweets and junk food in a given month. And as soon as I find that the expenses in the categories have exceeded the amount determined by me, I try to limit their purchase.

However, the most important feature is the ability to share expenses with other users. After all, this is precisely why MojeVýdaje was created in the first place – its author and his girlfriend needed to have an overview of joint expenses during their studies at university. To start sharing, just enter the other user's name on one of the accounts and all expenses and categories will be connected at once. However, the entered data can still be filtered by user. The app is not available for Android, so expenses can only be shared with iOS users.

In addition to compatibility with the iPad, the application also has the ability to log in with Touch ID and Face ID, or even support for the Apple Watch, where you can view a list of recent expenses and possibly add a new entry. MojeVydaje also fully supports the new iOS 13, including dark mode and displaying the context menu through Haptic Touch.

The app can be downloaded for free in the App Store. Use is subject to a symbolic monthly (CZK 29) or annual (CZK 259) subscription, the first month is a trial and therefore free. The developer Marek Přidal himself states that if it were possible, MojeVýdaje is completely free. However, running the application, which involves renting a server, and placing it in the App Store costs something. That is why there is a fee for use, and with your contribution you will contribute to further development, which Marek works on on weekends and in the evenings. In the future, he plans to add support for registration using Sign in with Apple, multi-window on the iPad, and also port the application to Mac using the Catalyst project.
