However, there are times when I need to focus and purposefully put my iOS device into Do Not Disturb or even Airplane mode. I also try to eliminate notifications and social networks, with which the application helps, for example Freedom.
Jan P. Martínek recently on Twitter shared application tip Forest: Stay focused, be present. I was very interested in the application, as it basically combines the Do Not Disturb mode with the Freedom application and at the same time offers something new. Simply put, you plant trees, which may sound strange, but I'll explain in a moment.
Forest is one of the applications aimed at increasing your productivity and concentration. Imagine you're reading a book and don't want to be disturbed by annoying notifications, or you're on a date and you want to fully devote yourself to your partner. The application is also perfect for students or creative people who want to get rid of their iPhone or iPad.
The joke is that in the app you choose the time you want to focus. When you do this, you don't switch away from the application, a bush or a tree will grow. Conversely, if you turn off the application, your tree will die.
So once you start the time lapse, you have to leave the iPhone lying on the table. In the process, you can watch your tree slowly grow. You can also see various motivational messages on the display. As soon as you press the Home button, you will immediately receive a notification that the tree is dying and you must return to the application. In short, Forest tries to let your iPhone lie down and work or do what you want. And it can also be targeted rest, reading or cooking.
The minimum limit that you can choose in the application is 10 minutes, on the contrary, the longest is 120 minutes. The more time you set, the bigger the tree you will grow. In addition to the tree, you will also always receive gold coins at the end, which you can use to buy new types of trees, such as a tree with a house, a bird's nest, a coconut tree, and many others. You also have a variety of relaxing melodies at your disposal, which you can buy again with gold coins. Real money is useless in Forest, the app does not contain any in-app purchases, which is great.
Support for planting real trees
You can also look at your detailed statistics every day, including a look at the past. You can see whether you managed to plant a proper forest or, on the contrary, you have only dead branches. In the application, you also complete various tasks for which you receive additional gold coins, which is quite motivating. However, I think the most valuable thing is to support the actual planting of new trees. The developers collaborate with various agencies that restore rainforests and plant new trees around the world. Zlaťáky can thus support a good cause. On the other hand, you have to save some time for it. A real tree also costs 2 gold.
The application also has rich settings and the possibility of synchronization between devices. You can compare your achievements with other users or add new friends. You can also add a label and a description to each tree, i.e. the success you managed to concentrate on work. In retrospect, you can see what activities you did that day, including the exact time interval.
Forest: Stay focused, be present is a refined application also in terms of design. Everything is minimalistic and clear. The developers are also constantly coming up with news and new trees, which is good. It is motivating to work and look at the iPhone next to you, where, for example, a Bonsai or a small bush is growing. It makes me realize that now I should be working or resting and not noticing the iPhone.
If you are constantly procrastinating and running to social networks, there is nothing to think about. Forest: Stay focused, be present you can buy it in the App Store for 59 crowns, which is an absolutely ridiculous amount compared to what the application offers.

This sounds like a very interesting app - so it's true that I'm online 95% of the time and I'm fine with it even when I'm working, but I'll definitely give it a try :)
It's probably interesting and I believe that it will definitely help someone, but don't be angry with me - to pay for an application that at least motivates me not to touch my mobile phone for a few minutes while reading a book... To me, it comes as a confirmation of the degeneration of today's society :D
