Are you familiar with the Android phone menu? Neither do we, and it's no wonder. Android devices are produced by a large number of manufacturers who are trying to compete with each other and keep up with Apple. Choosing the ideal Android smartphone can therefore be quite a challenge, while Apple is holding on to the captured hoof - the price here decides the equipment.

Of course, we are referring to the newly introduced iPhone SE 3rd generation. This is a clear low-end in the company's portfolio, which tries to offer the customer the Apple ecosystem in the old jacket but with improved performance. Even though it's new, it sits at the bottom of the company's portfolio. In contrast, we have a series of iPhone 13s, where the iPhone 13 Pro Max in particular costs almost three times as much as the iPhone SE in the basic memory configuration.

The price here clearly determines the performance and equipment of the device. But everything is actually given by the company's small offer. For how big Apple is, it still keeps a relatively narrow portfolio of its iPhones. Just introduce him to one new line of phones a year and throw in an SE model here and there. Thanks to this, it then keeps even three-year-old devices in the current offer of its Online Store. In addition to the iPhone 13, you can also buy the iPhone 12 and 11, but without the Pro versions. Everything is then nicely graded in price.

  • iPhone SE 3rd generation: From CZK 12
  • iPhone 11: From CZK 14
  • iPhone 12 mini: From CZK 16
  • iPhone 12: From CZK 19
  • iPhone 13 mini: From CZK 19
  • iPhone 13: From CZK 22
  • iPhone 13 Pro: From CZK 28
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max: From CZK 31

Even if you had no idea how the individual models differ from each other, you will clearly understand that the higher designation is offered by a newer model, and the equipment is also determined by the price. Then, of course, it's up to you if you find out the details, what makes one model better than another and if it's worth the money invested. Thanks to this portfolio, of course, it will not happen that any feature of the new model will be given to a lower model. The only exception is the SE series. But now consider the situation with other manufacturers who offer multiple lines.

More is not necessarily better

We have already covered the naming and sorting of Samsung models in a separate article. But now let's focus more on their equipment. The top of the portfolio is the Galaxy S series, followed by the Galaxy A series. Even the company itself states that it should be the one that brings the technological advances of the higher series closer to more users in a more affordable class.

The differences between high-end and more affordable models are constantly shrinking thanks to similarly large displays, their technology, even the number of cameras, but it is not unusual for the lower series to have more than the flagship. However, Apple uses a new chip every year, other manufacturers have a wide range of chips with different performance, where they put the best ones only in the flagship models and the less powerful ones in the rest.

E.g. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is supposed to stand out with its 108 MPx camera. But the company has now installed it in the Galaxy A73 5G device as well. However, the possible potential is hindered by the absence of a telephoto lens, so the final system is not really dazzling, if you don't jump on the marketing numbers with the idea that more is better.

In addition, the best-selling phone in the world for 2021 is the Samsung Galaxy A12. A device priced at CZK 3 with a quad camera and 500 MPx main camera, a 48mAh battery and a 5000" display, which is only LCD technology, but even so, its size could be envied by the iPhone SE. And who is the other? According to the latest figures from Omdia, it is the iPhone 6,5, here a device from the completely opposite price category. Even this may indicate that Apple is pursuing an ideal strategy, when there is really no need to expand its portfolio too much, when it rises to the top even with devices that are several times more expensive
