With the retina MacBook, which Apple introduced at WWDC 2012, the company has finally returned to true high-end notebooks that offer high-end specifications and uncompromising performance. So far, however, we have only been able to see the 13-inch model, users who prefer a smaller screen are out of luck. But that may soon change, as Apple is apparently planning to release a XNUMX" MacBook Pro with a retina display in the fall, most often talking about the October date.

According to the server Cnet.com already Samsung, LGD a Sharp have started production of 13" displays with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, which are intended for the MacBook Pro. AND leaked benchmark on Geekbench.com suggests that we should expect a smaller high-end laptop very soon. It is not clear on what occasion the device will be revealed. In addition to the MacBook, iMacs, Mac minis and Mac Pros are also expected to be updated. It probably won't be at the September presentation of the new iPhone generation, it is speculated that the next keynote could follow in October, possibly at the beginning of November.

According to the available information and according to the existing models, it is easy to estimate what parameters the 13″ MacBook Pro with retina display will have. The processor will likely be a dual-core Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7-3520M clocked at 2,9GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3,6GHz and with 4MB of L3 cache, just like the higher model of the current MacBook Pro. The basic operating memory will be 8 GB of RAM working at a frequency of 1600 Mhz. The 13″ MacBook will get a dedicated graphics card again after two years, it will be an economical but powerful Nvidia GeForce GT 650M with 1 GB of GDDR5 memory on the Kepler architecture, which can be found in all current 15″ MacBooks from Apple. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 will also be present, to which the system will switch to save battery.

The Retina display will have twice the resolution of the current 13″ MacBooks, i.e. 2560 x 1600 pixels, Apple will probably use an IPS panel again. The storage will be provided by a fast SSD NAND flash disk, the basic model will have 256 GB of space, the maximum possible capacity will be 768 GB.

The dimensions of the MacBook will be identical to the current "thirteen" (32,5 cm x 22,7 cm), only the thickness will be reduced to 1,8 cm. We are not sure yet just about the weight, but it should be somewhere above 1,5 kg. As for the ports, they will probably be identical to the 15″ retina MacBook Pro, i.e. 2 USB 3.0 connectors, 1-2 Thunderbolt ports, HDMI out and an SD card slot.

And how much will such a machine cost? Considering the current offer and the price difference between the 15″ MacBook Pro and the version with retina display, which is 500 dollars, the basic model could be sold for 1 dollars, according to the current Czech price list, it would be 699 CZK. So we can only look forward to when the most powerful 42″ MacBook appears in the Apple Online Store.
