Filip Brož R2N – I can't help but associate the name of this app with the R2D2 robot from the Star Wars series, and if I take it with great exaggeration, it is actually one such smart little robot. He may not be an expert in repairing spaceships, but he is very good at restaurants and food. When I started it for the first time, it crossed my mind that this is just another application that will offer an overview of restaurants on the map of Prague, help direct me to a pleasant establishment and show a phone number so that I have to make a reservation myself. But Restaurant 2 Night is about something else, it offers much more.
The application is currently only fully usable in Prague and the surrounding area, so I went to the capital to try R2N in practice. I didn't expect any miracles from her. At lunch time, I started it and in a few seconds I could see on a clear map where there was a restaurant in my area. For each establishment, you can understand what kind of cuisine they cook and – what is important in the case of R2N – what the value of the discount is. The discount is the added value of the project.
In every restaurant you come across in R2N, you can always use this app to apply a certain percentage discount applied to the total spend, whatever you eat and drink. Fifteen percent off, twenty percent off and even thirty percent off can be found at R2N.
In addition to interesting discounts, Restaurant 2 Night also offers classic services that we are used to with applications of a similar type - you can simply display the menu of the given restaurants and possibly also the daily menu, everything is clearly arranged in one place.
For the first test, I choose a restaurant a few tens of meters away, where they currently have a 15% discount. I choose the time, number of people and send the reservation. To do this, you need to create a quick profile, where you enter your name, e-mail and phone number. Registration is quick, you will receive a one-time login password via text message, after entering which the application reports that the reservation for two people at half past twelve has been accepted.
At the restaurant, the staff is really waiting for us, the reservation from R2N arrived in order and the waiter confirms that the mentioned discount is of course valid. When paying for expenses, everything goes smoothly, 15 percent is deducted from the final amount and we leave satisfied. The operator tells us that we are the first to use the discount through the R2N application, but that it still has its problems, even though everything went smoothly from the customer's point of view. The only hesitation was that I didn't receive a message in time after booking, which should have included a discount code, but in the end it was not needed. In addition, during the second test, the SMS arrived on time.
I checked R2N for the second time at dinner. The choice fell on a pleasant-looking pizzeria. All you had to do was enter the necessary information, log in with an already created name and password, and the reservation was accepted. A minor mistake this time was that my name did not arrive at the restaurant, but the reservation was written only for a phone number, but it was not an insurmountable problem. After dinner, we paid again without any problems with a discount, the staff was ready for everything.
The R2N project still has its problems, however, as soon as a larger number of customers start using it, the developers will be able to fix the discovered errors. The awareness of the Restaurant 2 Night app is not very high yet, so everything needs its time.
The entire application is graphically nicely processed and everything is clear. Restaurants can be easily filtered and searched between, which can make your selection easier if you don't just want to search the map. You can also choose directly according to specific cuisines, you can choose from English, Chinese, Balkan, Japanese, Czech, Mexican, fish, vegetarian and many others. For each restaurant, you will also find basic information such as address, contacts and a brief description of the location, atmosphere or food offered. Then all you have to do is make a reservation and you can enjoy your meal.
Initial preconceptions about the functioning of the entire project disappeared in an instant during its testing. Searching for restaurants is fast, booking is simple and the discounts offered are a great added value that most of us probably won't despise during lunch or dinner. The only rule that R2N has is that you can only use the discounts once a day, which is logical.
Despite the positive impressions, I can't wait for R2N to expand to other cities throughout the Czech Republic. For now, it can only be used by visitors to Prague and possibly when traveling abroad. However, the application is completely localized into the Czech language and is completely free to download. You don't even pay for making reservations or using discounts. Smaller or larger savings await you in every restaurant.

The first thing that bothers me is that the reservation is only possible half an hour in advance, so when you walk by and find out that you have the opportunity to go to a nice restaurant for a meal and still have a discount, you still have half an hour... I have the first (so far the only ) experience was that the restaurant did not know about this service at all, they have no contract with anyone and do not know how they even got into the application. Which was a little uncomfortable at first. However, the food and service were fine, so we were satisfied :)
