On the occasion of the traditional September Apple Event keynote, Apple showed off a number of new products, including the brand new Apple Watch Ultra. They were developed for the most demanding users, which is also reflected in their functions, options, increased durability and a number of other aspects. The Cupertino giant really thought of everything for them. He even developed a new strap for their needs - the Alpine pull - which combines maximum comfort, durability and practicality in one. In short, everything that is needed in the case of the most demanding sports.

On the other hand, there was a question about compatibility, or whether the new Alpine movement can be used, for example, in combination with the Apple Watch Series 8 or other generations. The concern stems from the fact that the regular Apple Watch (such as the Series 7/8, SE) is available in 41mm and 45mm cases, while the Apple Watch Ultra boasts a 49mm case. That is why it may not be immediately clear how the mentioned compatibility is. And luckily, Apple didn't forget her! The Cupertino giant even states that the Trail pull, Alpine pull and Ocean strap are intended for the Apple Watch Ultra and best fit the 49 mm case, but on the other hand, they are fully compatible with watches with case sizes of 44 mm and 45 mm. Unfortunately, Apple does not mention models with a 42mm case. On the contrary, 45mm straps are compatible with 42, 44 and 49mm cases, i.e. with the newly introduced Ultra model.

If we apply it to specific models, then it is clear that Apple has maintained the compatibility of straps from the original 42mm Apple Watch to the Apple Watch Series 8 version. But if you have straps for a smaller Apple (with a 38, 40, or 41mm case), then you are unfortunately out of luck, as in that case they will not be compatible with the Ultra model. If you are interested, you can order new straps today for CZK 2990.
