Apple today announced results for the calendar first quarter of this year, and it is the most successful non-Christmas period in Apple's history. What does not please us is that we will not see iPad sales in the Czech Republic even at the end of May.

The financial results are absolutely amazing. For the quarter, Apple generated net income of $3,07 billion, compared to $1,79 billion in the same period last year. International sales (beyond US borders) make up 58% of total revenue.

During this period, Apple sold 2,94 million Mac OS X computers (up 33% year-over-year), 8,75 million iPhones (up 13+%) and 10,89 million iPods (down 1%). This is great news for shareholders, so further growth in Apple shares can be expected.

Among other things, it was also heard that the Appstore has already reached 4 billion downloaded applications. Apple reiterated again that it is really surprised by the demand for iPads in the US and they have already strengthened the production capacity. The iPad 3G will go on sale in the US on April 30. Unfortunately, at the end of May, the iPad will only appear in 9 other countries, in which of course the Czech Republic will not be.
