The 35th week of 2020 is slowly but surely coming to an end. Even today, we have prepared a traditional IT summary for you, in which we inform you about everything related to information technology. In today's roundup, we will look together at the resignation of the director of TikTok, in the next news, we will talk more about the newly introduced Halo bracelet from Amazon, and as part of the latest news, we will offer you free games that are given away by Epic Games.

TikTok's CEO has resigned

In recent days, the ground has kind of collapsed all over TikTok. Just a few days ago, news about TikTok filled the front pages of all kinds of magazines. If you're not in the know and missed the whole TikTok thing, just to recap: a few weeks ago, the TikTok app was banned in India for allegedly collecting sensitive data about users and spying on them. A few days later, the US government began to consider a similar move, and after a few more days, a potential ban on TikTok was announced in the US. However, it turns out that the ban in the US is not so hot for now. Donald Trump, the president of the United States of America, gave ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, a choice. Either this app will be banned, or the app will continue to be available in the United States, but the American part of TikTok must be sold off to an American company. It was first rumored that Apple was interested in a part of TikTok, which was eventually refuted. Later, Microsoft joined the game, which showed and continues to show great interest in the American part of TikTok. Oracle is also in the game, but it still looks like Microsoft will end up getting the American part of TikTok.

ByteDance and Microsoft have said they won't comment publicly on the proceedings, so it's been quiet for a few days now. Today, however, we learned quite interesting news - the CEO of TikTok, Kevin Mayer, has resigned. According to him, he decided to resign purely for political reasons. It should be noted that Mayer did not warm up to the position of the executive director of TikTok for very long, namely only a few months. He served as CEO of TikTok from May until today. Other workers from TikTok support this decision and even understand it, which of course is understandable on the one hand - the pressure must have been huge.

Amazon introduced the smart bracelet Halo

There are countless smart wearables available on the market right now. Apple AirPods and Apple Watch are the most popular wearable accessories. What Apple continues to lack in its lineup, however, is smart bracelets. If you are not interested in buying an apple watch and would like something smaller, i.e. an accessory in the form of a bracelet, then you have to reach for a competitive solution. One such solution was introduced today by Amazon and is called Halo. The Halo smart bracelet has an accelerometer, a temperature sensor, a heart rate sensor, two microphones, an LED status indicator and a microphone on/off button. The battery life of the bracelet is up to one week, and the fact that the bracelet is suitable for swimming is also pleasing. Both iOS and Android users will be able to enjoy Halo. The price of Amazon Halo should be set at $99.99.
