We are about a month away from the presentation of the new iPhones, and as is usual, even this year, even before the premiere, information revealing the exact date of the start of sales surfaced. This time, the director of the Japanese operator SoftBank Mobile took care of the leak, who revealed the day of the start of sales of this year's iPhones rather inadvertently.

This is what this year's iPhones should look like:

In Japan, a revised version of the Telecommunications Business Law comes into effect on October 1st, which will introduce new rules related to offering bundled data plans with phones. Specifically, the law mandates that tariffs and phones be offered separately, as operators have until now been in the habit of selling expensive flagship smartphones – such as the iPhone – together with overpriced data packages.

Therefore, at a recent meeting of SoftBank investors, director Ken Miyauchi was asked how they intend to respond to the law in the case of new iPhones that will appear on the counters of retailers in September. Rather mistakenly, Miyauchi said that the new iPhones, along with the data plans, will be on offer for only ten days, which after all suggests that Apple will start selling the new phones on September 20.

“I honestly wonder what I should do for 10 days. I shouldn't have said this. Anyway, I don't know when the new iPhone will be released. However, after almost 10 days, the package will be cancelled.”

Although Miyauchi admitted that he should not have shared the information publicly, he did reveal to us the expected start date of sales of the new iPhones. After all, Friday, September 20, one way or another seems to be the most likely date, since new iPhones went on sale in a similar way in previous years. Pre-orders should then start a week earlier, specifically on September 13.

It is generally expected that the Apple Special Event, where this year's iPhones and other new products will debut, will actually take place in the second week of September. We can tentatively count on Tuesday, September 10. Under normal circumstances, the keynote could take place on Wednesday, but Apple usually avoids the date of 9/11.
