Kickstarter is teeming with all sorts of gadgets, many of which are specifically for iOS devices. One of them, for which we managed to raise money, is the unique Une Bobine cable, which allows you to place the iPhone or iPod in any position, for example twenty numbers above the table.

The concept of the Uni Bobine (French for "coil") is quite simple - it is two solid terminals, one 30-pin connector, the other USB, which connect a metal "gooseneck" 60 cm long. It can be bent arbitrarily, while the shape created is strong in itself and will support the weight of the entire iPhone under certain conditions.

The terminals are made of connectors that are surrounded by hard plastic. While regular cable feels quite flimsy, these two ends seem indestructible, although with brute force it would probably be possible to break them. However, the mounted iPhone with the 30-pin connector does not even move in any position, whether vertical or horizontal. It is also held in position by a safety device, which is released by two tabs on the sides of the terminal. Regarding the end with USB, I would be a little more careful here. When connecting, for example, to the port of a MacBook, only minimal pressure should be exerted on it, so it is necessary to shape the gooseneck into the appropriate shape, as you can see, for example, in the photos. After all, with more pressure, the connection between the phone and the computer is broken.

The interruption is sometimes a bit of a problem, because it is not easy to shape the Uni Bobine so that the USB port fits exactly into the MacBook socket, and it often happened to me that the power supply was intermittently interrupted, once a message even popped up saying that the device via this device is not supported. It is therefore necessary to work on the ideal shape for a while, so that the end is at the right angle and height.

Une Bobine can be a stylish holder for iPhone or iPod, for example for use during long video calls, interesting use can also be in the car, where the rigid gooseneck moves only minimally. The workmanship is excellent, the metal part has a beautiful finish and gives the impression of a really high-quality product. I only have a reservation about the plastic ends, which are very sturdy, but I would have chosen a slightly different shade of white to match Apple products more. Une Bobine will have a problem with some cases depending on the cutout around the connector, for example it cannot be used with a bumper.

Une Bobine is produced in two lengths. The 60cm version offers more shaping options and you'll generally have more "fun" with it. The shorter Petite Bobine measures 30 cm and basically offers the only possible shape, which, moreover, cannot be used as a separate stand. Manufacturer Fuse Chicken in addition, it also offers a variant with MicroUSB, which is suitable for other phones, and it is said that it is also working on a version with a Lightning connector.

A cable with a gooseneck is more of a design than a practical matter, personally I probably wouldn't find a use for it, but that's an opinion, and I believe that Une Bobine will find its customers. You can buy the longer version (60 cm) for 750 CZK, the shorter version for 690 CZK.
