Michal Marek Smartphones and tablets have a really wide range of uses, and in many activities they can replace specialized tools quite well. Thanks to the high-quality cameras of iPhones and iPads, these devices can also be used, for example, to scan documents and thus partially dispense with expensive office equipment, which, moreover, is not always at hand. However, so that the result is not just provisional-looking photos of various documents and documents, third-party developers come up with special applications. The image can be automatically cropped, converted into a color mode suitable for printing and easier reading, and can also be exported to PDF, sent by e-mail or uploaded to the cloud.

In the App Store, in the category dedicated to business, you will find a variety of scanning applications. They differ in price, processing, the number of various add-on functions and the quality of the resulting images. For example, Scanner Pro, Genius Scan or TurboScan are popular. However, now a new scanning app has hit the App Store Scanbot. It is pretty, fresh, has a Czech localization and comes with a slightly different approach and perspective.
User interface
On the main screen of the application there is a list of your scanned documents, a gear wheel with settings and a big plus to start a new scan. There is really a minimum of setting options in the menu. You can turn on and off automatic upload to cloud services that you choose and log into. The menu includes Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, OneDrive, Box and Yandex.Disk, which should be enough for most users. In addition to the upload options, there are only two options in the settings - whether the images will be saved directly to the system photo album and whether the size of the resulting files will be reduced.
Scanning
However, when scanning itself, many more options and functions emerge. You can activate the camera and take a new picture either by pressing the mentioned plus symbol or by flicking your finger downwards. The opposite - from the camera to the main menu - the gesture also works, but of course you have to flick your finger in the opposite direction. This method of control is very pleasant and can be considered as a kind of added value of Scanbot. Taking the picture is also quite unconventional. All you have to do is focus the camera on the given document, wait for the application to recognize its edges, and if you hold the phone still enough, the application will take the picture itself. There is also a manual camera trigger, but this automatic scan works reliably. Photos can also be easily imported from your phone's photo album.
When the picture is taken, you can immediately edit its crop, title and apply one of the color modes, with a choice of color, gray and black and white. The document can then be saved. If you are not satisfied with the result, you can return to the photo mode and take a new one, or simply delete the current one. Both actions can be done with a soft button, but again a simple gesture is also available (drag back to go back and swipe up to discard the image). Documents can also be composed of multiple images, all you have to do is switch the appropriate slider in camera mode.
After taking and saving, the picture is saved on the main screen of the application, and from there you can work with it further after opening it. And it is here that Scanbot once again proves to be an extremely capable and unique application. You can simply draw and highlight text, add comments and even insert a signature into documents. In addition, there is a classic share button, thanks to which the document can be sent by message or e-mail or opened in other applications that work with PDF. From this screen, the document can also be manually uploaded to the selected cloud service.
Verdict
The main domain of the Scanbot application is speed, a clean user interface and modern control using gestures. These basic principles of a modern mobile application radiate from every element of Scanbot and make working with a scanned document more pleasant. Despite the fact that the application is comparable to the competition in terms of the number of functions and offers much more in some areas, it does not seem robust, overpriced or complex. Working with the application, on the other hand, is very straightforward and simple. Although there are many applications in the scanning category and it would seem that the next addition can no longer surprise and interest, Scanbot certainly has a chance to break through. It has a lot to offer, it is "different" and it is beautiful. In addition, the pricing policy of the developers is very friendly and Scanbot can be downloaded from the App Store for a pleasant 89 cents.

I am very pleasantly surprised - it is probably the most practical and beautiful application for scanning documents at the moment. I have all other scanning applications.
and what is so good about it, or better than other similar applications? I use scanner pro from readdle and thought about it.
Border search doesn't work for me on iphone4? Is it only optimized for iphone 5? If so, then this is quite a scam, because I recommend it for ios7 and all apple devices.
Hi Jaro, we turned off the limits only for the iPhone 4, because that one core wouldn't do it. Apple does not allow applications to be limited by device, but only by OS. By the way, a couple of features from iOS7 don't work on iPhone 4 either.
But to make you happy, in the next update we turned on and optimized the detection for iPhone 4 as well, so it should work for you :)
Thanks for the accurate information. It's written on the appstore so it doesn't come to mind - and I'm checking it carefully, because the iphone4 can't do a lot of that anymore. We'll see :) otherwise the app looks very good.

They fulfilled what they promised - the new update turned on automatic scanning on iPhone4. It works great and I personally have to mark this app as really great.
