If you own a car, you most likely charge your mobile phone or other device in it, through a 12V socket. Some newer vehicles already have a wireless charger available, but it is often small and not enough for the largest phones, or the phone often disconnects from it while driving. There are usually several 12V sockets in cars, some cars have them located on the front panel, some cars have them in the armrest or near the back seats, and some vehicles have them in the trunk. You can plug charging adapters for your mobile devices into each of these sockets.

However, it should be noted that many charging adapters for cars are not quite of such high quality. In this case, you should definitely not skimp on the adapter, as it is something that can cause a fire, for example, in case of poor construction quality. So you should definitely prefer a quality power adapter for a few hundred, rather than some adapter for a few crowns from the Chinese market. In addition, more expensive adapters often also offer the option for fast charging, which you could only dream about in the case of cheap adapters. In this review, we'll look at the Swissten car adapter, which has an output of up to 2.4A and comes with a free cable of your choice.

Official specification

If you are looking for a practical charger for your car, thanks to which you will be able to charge not only your phone but also your tablet, then you can stop looking. If you spend a lot of time in your vehicle, a charging adapter is very important to keep your mobile device alive. The Swissten car charger specifically offers two USB outputs and a maximum power of up to 12 watts (2,4A/5V). This adapter comes with a cable, you can choose from a Lightning, microUSB or USB-C cable. It should be noted that the price of the adapter also differs in this case. The variant with a Lightning cable costs 249 crowns, with a USB-C cable for 225 crowns and with a microUSB cable for 199 crowns.

Packing

This car charger comes in a classic red and white box, as is customary with Swissten. On the front you can see the pictured adapter in all its glory, you will also find information about which cable the adapter comes with. There is also information about the maximum performance of the adapter. On the side you will then find the detailed specifications of the product, in the upper part of the back of the box you will then find a transparent window in which you can see which cable is in the package. Below you will find instructions for the correct use of the product. After opening the box, all you have to do is pull out the plastic carrying case, from which you just need to click the adapter together with the cable. You can of course plug it into the car socket immediately afterwards.

Processing

In terms of processing, this reviewed car adapter won't excite you, but it won't offend you either. The adapter is entirely made of plastic, that is, of course, except for the metal parts that serve as contacts. In addition to the two USB connectors, the upper side of the adapter also has a round blue design element that brings the entire adapter to life. On the side panel you will then find the Swissten branding, opposite to which you will find the specification and other detailed information about the adapter. As for the connectors, they are quite stiff at first and it is quite difficult to plug the cables into them, but after pulling out and inserting them several times, everything is fine.

Personal experience

Despite the fact that I have classic USB connectors available in my car, through which I can easily charge my devices and, if necessary, also run CarPlay on them, I of course decided to try this adapter. The whole time I had no problems with the adapter, there were no interruptions in charging, and I didn't even have to adjust the phone settings so that the iPhone could respond to USB devices in a locked state, as is customary with some cheap adapters. As for the power of the adapter, if you are only charging one device, you can "let" the already changed maximum current of 2.4 A into it. If you charge two devices at the same time, the current will be divided into 1.2 A and 1.2 A. My girlfriend and I finally don't have to share and fight over one charger in the car anymore - we simply plug in each of our devices and charge both at the same time. The fact that there is a free cable in the package is also pleasing. And in case you are missing a cable, you can add a high-quality braided cable from Swissten to your basket.

záver

If you have bought a new car, or you simply need to connect a car adapter to your existing car, the reviewed adapter from Swissten is the perfect choice. It will surprise you with its workmanship, price tag, and also the possibility to connect two devices to the adapter at the same time. The included cable (either Lightning, microUSB, or USB-C) or the nice and modern look of the entire adapter are also an advantage. There is nothing missing from the adapter, and as I already mentioned, it is a nice choice if you need to buy a car adapter.
