iPhone owners are divided into two camps – some use the phone completely without protective elements and thus enjoy its design to the fullest, others, on the other hand, cannot imagine not protecting the phone with a cover and tempered glass. I personally belong to both groups in my own way. Most of the time I use my iPhone without a case, to protect the display as much as possible. However, almost immediately after purchasing it, I purchase tempered glass and a cover, which I use rather sporadically over time. It was the same when I bought the new iPhone 11 Pro, when I bought PanzerGlass Premium glass and a ClearCase case together with the phone. In the following lines, I will summarize my experience with both supplements after more than a month of use.

PanzerGlass ClearCase

There are a number of purely transparent covers for the iPhone, but the PanzerGlass ClearCase differs from the rest of the offer in some aspects. This is because it is a cover, the entire back of which is made of tempered glass with a high degree of hardness. Thanks to this and the non-slip TPU edges, it is resistant to scratches, falls and is able to absorb the force of impacts that could damage the components in the phone.

The highlighted features are clearly useful, however, in my view, the most beneficial - and also the reason why I chose ClearCase - is the special protection against yellowing. Discoloration after long-term use is a fairly common problem with purely transparent packaging. But PanzerGlass ClearCase is supposed to be immune to environmental influences, and its edges should thus retain a transparent appearance, for example, even after more than a year of use. While some users have complained about the case turning slightly yellow after a few weeks with previous generations, the version for my iPhone 11 is clean even after more than a month of daily use. The question is, of course, how the packaging will hold up after more than a year, but so far the guaranteed protection really works.

Undoubtedly, the back of the packaging, which is made of PanzerGlass tempered glass, is also interesting. This is essentially the same glass that the manufacturer offers as protection for phone displays. In the case of ClearCase, however, the glass is even 43% thicker and as a result has a thickness of 0,7 mm. Despite the higher thickness, support for wireless chargers is maintained. The glass should be protected with an oleophobic layer, which should make it resistant to fingerprints. But I have to say from my own experience that this is not the case at all. Although not every single print can be seen on the back like, for example, on the display, signs of use are still visible on the glass after the first minute and require regular wiping to maintain cleanliness.

What I praise, on the other hand, are the edges of the case, which have anti-slip properties and thanks to them, the phone is easy to handle, because it holds firmly in the hands. Although the edges are not completely minimalistic, on the contrary, they give the impression that they will reliably protect the phone if it falls to the ground. In addition, they sit well on the iPhone, they do not creak anywhere, and all cutouts for the microphone, speaker, Lightning port and side switch are also well made. All the buttons are easy to press in the case and it is clear that PanzerGlass tailored its accessory to the phone.

PanzerGlass ClearCase has its negatives. The packaging could perhaps be a bit more minimalistic and the back would do well if it didn't have to be wiped down so often so it doesn't look so touched up. In contrast, ClearCase clearly gives the impression that it will reliably protect the phone in the event of a fall. Anti-yellowing is also welcome. In addition, the cover is well made, everything fits, the edges extend slightly over the display and therefore protect it in some ways. ClearCase is of course also compatible with all PanzerGlass protective glasses.

PanzerGlass Premium

There is also an abundance of tempered glass for iPhones. But I personally don't agree with the opinion that glasses for a few dollars are equal to branded pieces. I myself have tried several glasses from Chinese servers in the past and they never reached the quality of more expensive glasses from established brands. But I'm not saying that cheap options can't suit someone. However, I prefer to reach for a more expensive alternative, and PanzerGlass Premium is currently probably the best tempered glass for the iPhone, at least according to my experience so far.

It was the first time that I did not glue the glass on the iPhone myself and left this task to the salesperson at Mobil Emergency. At the store, they stuck the glass on me really precisely, with all the precision. Even after a month of using the phone, not a speck of dust got under the glass, not even in the cut-out area, which is a common problem with competing products.

PanzerGlass Premium is a little thicker than the competition - specifically, its thickness is 0,4 mm. At the same time, it also offers high hardness and transparency, thanks to a high-quality tempering process that lasts 5 hours at a temperature of 500 °C (ordinary glasses are only chemically hardened). A benefit is also less susceptibility to fingerprints, which is ensured by a special oleophobic layer covering the outer part of the glass. And from my own experience, I can confirm that, unlike the packaging, the layer really works here and leaves only minimal prints on the glass.

In the end, I have almost nothing to complain about the glass from PanzerGlass. During use, I just registered that the display is less sensitive to gestures Tap to wake and when tapping on the display, it is necessary to give slightly more emphasis. In all other respects, PanzerGlass Premium is seamless. After a month, it doesn't even show any signs of wear, and how many times I put the iPhone on the table with the screen facing down. Obviously, I haven't tested how the glass handles dropping the phone on the ground. However, based on the experience of the past years, when I also used PanzerGlass glass for older iPhones, I can state that even if the glass cracked after a fall, it always protected the display. And I believe it will be no different in the case of the iPhone 11 Pro variant.

While the ClearCase packaging has its specific disadvantages, I can only recommend Premium glass from PanzerGlass. Together, both accessories form a complete – and it should be noted that durable – protection for the iPhone 11 Pro. Although it is not the cheapest matter, at least in the case of glass, in my opinion it is worth investing in it.
