The Ballistic Tough Jacket Series cover is designed for demanding iPad mini owners who use their device in worse conditions and do not want it to come to harm. For that reason, the aforementioned cover offers a strong three-layer construction supplemented by a removable display cover and also special Ballistic Corners technology for maximum corner security.
The three-layer construction consists of internal silicone for shock absorption, hardened plastic for absorbing hard impacts and another layer of Ballistic polymer for impact absorption. You can hold the iPad mini comfortably in the Ballistic Tough Jacket Series. First, you slip the tablet into the silicone case, which includes the aforementioned improved corner protection, and then you place the iPad mini with it in the hardened plastic.
With the Ballistic Tough Jacket Series, you have easy access to all iPad controls. It is made of hardened plastic and would protect the front of the iPad mini, including the display, in most cases, but when you want to actively use the device, the removable cover must go aside. You can at least attach it to the back, where it then serves as a stand.
The Ballistic Tough Jacket Series screen is only protected in such a way that if you place it on a flat surface, it will not touch the surface or get scratched thanks to the rubber corners and edges. However, there is no protective layer over the display, so it is quite susceptible to possible damage in worse conditions. Even when falling on the display (without a removable cover), not much protection is ensured, because the iPad mini would have to fall really horizontally.
This is also why the price of 1 crowns for a cover "designed for use in the most demanding conditions" is a bit high, because your iPad mini with the Ballistic Tough Jacket Series, or rather its display, may not survive the most demanding conditions.
