MagSafe has been an integral part of Apple phones since 2020, i.e. all iPhones 12 and newer. This is absolutely perfect technology, but unfortunately it doesn't get much attention and many users of newer iPhones have no idea what MagSafe actually is. Specifically, these are magnets that are located on the back in the bowels of apple phones. Thanks to them, you can then use the iPhone with a compatible MagSafe accessory that is magnetically clipped to the back. It can be, for example, wireless chargers, power banks, holders, stands, wallets and much more.

As I mentioned above, MagSafe is officially only available for iPhones 12 and later. However, many users still have no reason to upgrade from older models, but would like to use MagSafe. For them, there have been special metal MagSafe rings for a long time, which can be stuck on the back of the iPhone, or on its cover. Thanks to this, you can practically add MagSafe even to older Apple phones, although of course you will not be able to use this technology 15%. The biggest limitation is the charging power, which with MagSafe can be up to 7.5 W, unfortunately with the additional MagSafe we only get to XNUMX W, which is the classic Qi wireless charging power with which MagSafe is compatible. If you are interested in this and would like to add MagSafe to your older iPhone, then you can reach for adhesive MagSafe rings from Swissten, which we will look at in this review.

Official specification

All MagSafe pads or rings are generally the same and differ from each other in minimal ways. If you choose the ones from Swissten, you should know that they are only 0,4 millimeters thick, so you can be sure that they won't get in the way. A high-quality 3M self-adhesive layer is then used for sticking, which offers a firm connection to the substrate, i.e. to the phone or protective cover. There are a total of two MagSafe rings in the package. The classic price of the rings is 149 crowns, but there is currently a discount, which drops the price to 99 crowns. However, using our discount code you can get to 89 crowns, which is based on a total discount of 40%.

Packing

The reviewed Swissten MagSafe rings arrive in a typical white-red box, which is typical for this brand. On the front you will find the branding, along with a depiction of both rings and basic features. You will then find instructions for use on the side and back. It's definitely great that you won't find any more useless manual paper inside that you'd throw away anyway. At the back, below, you will also find two photos with usage. Inside the box, you will already find both MagSafe adhesive rings in the bag, which you just need to pull out and stick as needed.

Processing

In terms of processing, there is not much to talk about in this case. Swissten's MagSafe rings are made of metal that is 0,4 millimeters thick, so it's actually very narrow and you won't even know about it. Both rings are black in color with a white product branding inscription at the top. One of the rings is cut out at the bottom, the other forms a whole circle - but don't look for any difference in usability between them, in fact, I didn't find it.

Personal experience

In my case, I used MagSafe rings from Swissten on an older iPhone XS, which I don't really need to change for a new one at the moment, because it's enough for me. Perhaps the only thing that appeals to me about the newer iPhones is MagSafe, and thanks to these rings, any need to upgrade to a new device has practically completely disappeared. Yes, of course there will be people who will slander this solution, as it is not original and may not seem elegant, but quite frankly, I definitely don't mind the design. In addition to the visible ring, one disadvantage for me is the inability to charge with full MagSafe power, but since I still rely on charging with a cable, this does not limit me in any way. Installation is simple, just remove the protective adhesive tape, and then stick the ring on a pre-cleaned and degreased place.

As I mentioned above, you can use magnetic rings with any accessory that supports MagSafe. I personally used them in conjunction with a charging stand designed for MagSafe, which I can finally use with an older iPhone. In addition, I attached a MagSafe mount to my older car and I'm slowly getting used to the MagSafe wallet as well. Since I have already tested MagSafe with a newer iPhone several times, I can compare both solutions, i.e. the original and the non-original one in the form of rings. And quite frankly I don't see any difference in use. The strength of the magnets is identical, and so is the behavior. What is clear, however, is that the MagSafe ring gradually wears down with use.

záver

If you like MagSafe technology but don't want to upgrade your older iPhone just yet, you'll definitely like the adhesive MagSafe rings from Swissten. This is a perfect solution as you can use MagSafe even on older Apple phones. For the possibility of wireless charging, it is of course necessary to place the ring on an iPhone 8 and newer, in any case, if you do not plan to charge wirelessly and would just like to use a stand, holder or MagSafe wallet, you can simply stick the ring on any older iPhone or anywhere else. From my own experience, I can definitely recommend MagSafe rings to you, and if you would like to buy them, I am attaching a code below, thanks to which you can buy not only the rings, but all Swissten products 10% cheaper.
