About two years ago, when Apple came out with the iPhone 12 (Pro), we also saw the introduction of a brand new technology called MagSafe for Apple phones. Despite the fact that it is an absolutely perfect gadget that has already changed the lives of many users, many of them have no idea what it actually is, or how to use it. Specifically, MagSafe is the ring-shaped magnet technology found at the back of the guts of newer iPhones. Using them, you can then magnetically attach any MagSafe accessories to your Apple phone, such as chargers, wallets, holders, stands, power banks, etc.

The absolutely basic MagSafe accessory is, of course, a classic charger that can wirelessly charge an iPhone with up to 15 watts of power, which is twice as much as traditional Qi wireless charging. Unfortunately, Apple's original MagSafe charger is relatively expensive - it costs CZK 1, so many Apple users prefer to use classic wired or wireless charging. However, it is necessary to mention that there are various alternatives that are practically identical in terms of management, but cost much less. Let's take a look together in this review Swissten MagSafe charger, which is a candidate for one of the best alternative chargers of this type, due to the price, processing and other parameters.

Official specification

As with other reviews, we'll start with the official specifications, which, however, are not extensive for MagSafe chargers. As mentioned above, the Swissten MagSafe charger supports charging with a power of up to 15 watts, precisely through MagSafe. But many users don't know that MagSafe chargers can also be used as classic wireless chargers, so you can charge absolutely anything wirelessly, including devices and accessories that MagSafe doesn't have. In any case, if you have an older iPhone and would like to use MagSafe, you can reach for MagStick covers Swissten or after magnetic adhesive rings, which can add magnetic technology from Apple. The price of the Swissten MagSafe charger is 549 crowns, thanks to up to 15% discount at the end of the review, you can get it for 467 crowns.

Packing

In terms of packaging, the Swissten MagSafe charger is the same as most other Swissten products – meaning you'll get a white box with red and black elements. On its front side there is the charger pictured, along with basic information. The back side contains text in several different languages, so there is no other unnecessary paper or instructions inside the box. After opening the box, just pull out the paper carrier on which the Swissten MagSafe charger is attached. Of course, the charger includes a cable with a USB-C end, which is 1,5 meters long, which is 50 cm more than the original and is a huge advantage, even if it may not seem like it at first.

Processing

As for the processing, i.e. the design of the Swissten MagSafe charger, you would not be able to distinguish it from the original solution from Apple... that is, if it were not for the Swissten branding, which is located on the front in the middle of the charger. The body of the reviewed charger is made of metal and the front contact surface is rubberized to prevent damage to the back of iPhones or other devices that support wireless charging. The mandatory specifications and certificates are printed on the back of the Swissten MagSafe charger. The cable, which is integrated and inseparable, has a length of 1,5 meters, which absolutely everyone will appreciate, and as for its processing, it is rubberized, just like the one from Apple. The only difference you'll notice is the end cap, which has Swissten branding on one side. In addition, there is a Velcro fastener directly on the cable, which can be used to wind up any excess cable. It's a small thing, but these velcros always come in handy and you can easily move them to another cable if needed.

Personal experience

I tested the MagSafe charger from Swissten for several weeks, together with the iPhone 12. To be honest, during that time I did not notice practically any differences compared to the original piece from Apple, which is really remarkable and positive considering the significantly lower price. But what I really appreciate most is that the Swissten MagSafe charger has a longer cable - the 50 centimeters to the good compared to the original is really noticeable, because you have much more freedom in the location and you don't have to worry about who and where the socket is. In order for the Swissten MagSafe charger to work properly, you need to purchase an adapter with a sufficient power of at least 20 watts. In this regard, I can recommend something original from my own experience 20 W charging adapter from Apple, or Swissten 25 W charger.

Since Swissten's MagSafe charger provides the same charging power as Apple's, charging speeds are practically identical. This means that I was able to charge the iPhone 12 from 30% to about 1% in 30 minutes, and then of course it slows down. The remaining 70% was charged in less than two hours, so calculate that the total charging via MagSafe "from zero to one hundred" takes about two and a half hours. I also have to praise the strength of the magnets, which is identical to the original Apple charger. I have already encountered that some alternatives had weaker magnets, which luckily does not happen with the Swissten MagSafe charger.

záver

If you have one of the newer iPhones and would like to use a MagSafe charger with it, but you don't want to spend unnecessarily on an expensive original, I think that the solution from Swissten is absolutely great. In terms of design and processing, the Swissten MagSafe charger is practically identical to the original, but you also get a 1,5 meter cable, which is a big advantage, and above all, a significantly lower price. So I can definitely recommend this charger from Swissten, and possibly in combination with Swissten MagStick covers for older apple phones or with MagSafe with magnetic magnetic rings, which can also be stuck on any other devices. If you would like to purchase the Swissten MagSafe charger, do not forget to use it 10% or 15% discount code on all Swissten products, which I attach below. At the same time, don't forget to purchase sufficiently powerful USB-C adapter.
