From time to time we have to sacrifice something old for something new. This sentence was most likely followed by Apple when it removed iTunes as part of the latest macOS 10.15 Catalina update. Thanks to it, we were able to manage devices, listen to music, podcasts and visit the iTunes Store in macOS. Unfortunately, for some reason, Apple decided that iTunes had to be discontinued. Instead, he deployed three new applications called Music, Podcasts and TV. He then moved Apple device management to the Finder. As you can probably guess, many people don't like change, so many users take iTunes removal very negatively.

For now, iTunes is available on Windows, but it won't be available here forever either. There are already rumors that iTunes support will end even within the Windows operating system. All these struggles with iTunes have given rise to applications that can replace it. It is undoubtedly among the best of these applications MacX MediaTrans, i.e. WinX Media Trans depending on which operating system you want to use it on. Both versions practically do not differ from each other at all, and in today's review we will look at the macOS version, i.e. MacX MediaTrans.

A list of the best features

The MacX MediaTrans program was very popular even before the demise of iTunes itself. Since iTunes often displayed various errors and had many limitations, the developers from Digiarta began to act. And they developed a program that is several times better than iTunes itself. With MediaTrans, you can say goodbye to persistent errors and limitations. The management of music, photos and videos is very simple, and what's more, it's not tied to a single computer. You can thus perform administration practically anywhere. It should be noted that the same applies to backing up and restoring the device. In addition, MediaTrans has other functions, for example, in the form of the option of saving data on the iPhone as a flash drive, encrypting backups, converting HEIC photos to JPG, or simply creating ringtones.

Simple user interface

You might like MacX MediaTrans mainly because of its simplicity and intuitive use. You can forget about the complicated iTunes controls that even advanced computer users had trouble understanding. Interface MediaTrans it is very simple and perfect for every user - whether you are an amateur or a professional. In the several months that I have been using MediaTrans, this program has probably not let me down even once. Everything works as it should, the program does not crash and is perfectly fast. In today's wireless age, I don't connect my iPhone to my Mac very often, but when I have to, I certainly don't have nightmares about it, as was the case with iTunes.

The main goal of the MediaTrans program is primarily to provide backup and restore services in the simplest possible form. I personally had the honor of backing up the entire 64GB iPhone storage through MacX MediaTrans. Again, I must add that there was no error during this process and the backup went exactly as expected. So it doesn't matter whether you're going to back up just a few photos or the entire device. In addition, some of you may be pleased that together with MediaTrans, the need to pay a monthly plan for iCloud will disappear. Nowadays, subscriptions are really everywhere, and the final monthly amount for all subscriptions can reach several hundreds - so why spend unnecessarily. Restoring all backed up files is of course as easy as backing them up. If we were to look at specific numbers, for example, the transfer of 100 photos in 4K resolution takes only 8 seconds.

Speaking of photos, you may also be interested in the possibility of simply deleting any photo from the library. This was not possible in iTunes under any circumstances. In addition, the latest iPhones shoot in the efficient HEIC format, which can reduce the size of the photo and thus create more free space in the storage. Unfortunately, not all programs can work with this format yet, and in the end you usually have to laboriously convert them to JPG. Included MediaTrans however, there is an option to automatically convert the HEIC format to JPG. Other features include simple music management. You surely remember that moment when you connected your iPhone to a friend's computer, only to find that when you moved new music from someone else's computer, all your previously saved songs would be deleted. In the case of MacX MediaTrans, this is not a threat, and you can transfer photos, as well as music, to the iPhone absolutely anywhere.

I must also not forget the fact that MediaTrans offers easy encryption of backups and files using ASS-256 and others. In addition, you can turn your iPhone into a portable flash drive with the help of MediaTrans. If you connect your iPhone to a computer and select the option to write files to memory in the program, you can then "download" them anywhere else. Anything can be stored in the iPhone's memory - be it documents in PDF, Work or Excel format, or you can store movies or other important files here.

Summary

Looking back, I have to say "golden old iTunes". Personally, I find device management through the Finder quite unnatural and, moreover, just as complicated as in the case of iTunes. Apple really failed to do this and gave other companies the opportunity to benefit from their own programs that can replace iTunes. However, it should be noted that these programs were already there before iTunes was removed, they just didn't get as much attention as they do now. So if you're looking for a way to restore iTunes to macOS, you don't have to. MacX MediaTrans it's really nutty and I can guarantee you that after the first try you won't want anything else.
