In today's test, we will take a look at the Jabra Elite 85h wireless headphones, which will impress you mainly with their equipment and also with a relatively pleasant price tag, especially in combination with an event that the distributor has prepared for our readers. It is over seven thousand crowns and you get quite a lot for your money, both in terms of quality and equipment.

Specifications

The Jabra Elite 85h wireless headphones have a pair of 40 millimeter drivers with a frequency range from 10 Hz to 20 kHz. Wireless music transfer is handled by Bluetooth 5.0 with support for HSP v1.2, HFP v1.7, A2DP v1.3, AVRCP v1.6, PBAP v1.1, SPP v1.2 profiles. The headphones can also be used in classic cable mode (audio cable is included in the package). As for battery life, you can get up to 36 hours with ANC on, 41 with it off. The charging cycle with the included USB-C charging cable takes about two and a half hours, after fifteen minutes the headphones are charged for about five hours of listening. There are a total of eight microphones on the body of the headphones, which are used both for the ANC function and the transmission of ambient sound, as well as for calls.

Execution

The headphone chassis is made of matte hard plastic, which is complemented by a combination of fabric and artificial leather. The earpiece and headband are made of leatherette, the outer parts are made of fabric. The processing is top-notch, it doesn't throw anything, everything fits well, the individual buttons have a good response and the headphones overall have a very solid impression. The headphones also have some degree of sweat and rain and dust resistance. We can't find a specific certification here, but a light rain on the way home won't destroy the headphones.

Controls

There are relatively few different buttons on the body of the headphones. In the middle of the right earcup we find the button for play/pause and for pairing via Bluetooth, below and above it there are buttons for reducing or to increase the volume and to skip songs. On the perimeter of the earpiece we also find a button for activating and deactivating the microphone and a pair of physical connectors (USB-C and AUX). On the left earcup we find a button for selecting individual modes (see below).

Jabra Sound+ app

A very important addition to the Jabra Elite 85h headphones is the accompanying Jabra Sound+ application. It serves several very useful, if not essential, functions. First of all, it works as a locator that records the position of the headphones when they were connected and when they were last disconnected. It also serves as a guide, where you can see on the pictograms how the headphones are controlled. Last but not least, the application is used to update the firmware and accompanying settings of the headphones, such as the default intelligent assistant, etc. The most important thing, however, is the setting of the sound display and the personalization of the individual modes.

There are four of them - My Moment, Commute, In Public and In Private. In each of these modes, you can set either ANC or the HearThrough function, as well as playing with the five-band equalizer here. There are also several presets such as Bass Boost, Smooth, Speech, Treble Boost or Energize. Within the application, it is also possible to use the SmartSound function, which sets the ideal sound according to the current conditions in your area.

Ergonomics

There is not much to criticize here either, although I discovered one negative after very long testing. The padding is sufficient and comfortable, both on the bridge of the head and in the ear cups. The sliding mechanism for increasing the size of the headphones has adequate resistance, and just enough stiff operation that it can be reliably adjusted to the desired size. The only subjective disadvantage of these headphones may be the marginal depth of the ear cups. This will be very individual as we all have different sized and shaped earlobes. Personally, however, I registered during longer wearing that I would have liked a few millimeters more depth inside the earcups. As with most headphones of this design, it's just a matter of trying it out. An added bonus is the "intelligent" function of automatically turning off/on the headphones when they are put on/taken off from the head.

Sound quality

I was very satisfied with the sound reproduction level of the headphones. Thanks to the accompanying equalizer, it is possible to adjust the sound performance according to specific requirements or according to the music you are currently listening to. The sound is very pleasant to listen to, there is no loss of detail, even at higher volumes, and it has an unexpected depth.

ANC works very well, but owners who often wear, for example, caps or sunglasses with thicker frames must be careful, because the slightest leak between the earcup and the ear, or head leads to smaller or larger sound artifacts. However, this is a problem with almost all headphones with the ANC function.

záver

I can personally definitely recommend the Jabra Elite 85h wireless headphones. Great workmanship and a great design, thanks to which the headphones do not seem huge (due to their over-ear construction). A very pleasant audio presentation complemented by individualization through the Jabra Sound+ application, above-average battery life, a well-functioning ANC mode and an additional listening mode (HearThrough). Features like automatic on/off are just icing on the cake. Jabra has really succeeded in this model.
