We've been through a lot with iOS in recent years. In iOS 7, a radical system overhaul was waiting for us, which continued a year later in iOS 8. However, we also experienced desperate situations full of crashes and errors with it. But with this year's iOS 9, all nightmares come to an end: the "nine" after years brings stability and certainty that switching immediately is the right choice.
At first glance, iOS 9 can really be indistinguishable from iOS 8. The only thing that can catch your eye right away on the lock screen is the font change. The transition to San Francisco is a pleasant visual change that you won't even notice after a while. Only when you start playing more with your iPhone or iPad will you gradually come across major or minor innovations that appear in iOS 9.
On the surface, Apple left everything as it was (and worked), improving mainly the so-called under the hood. None of the mentioned news means a revolution, on the contrary, phones with Android or even Windows have been able to do most of the functions for a long time, but it is definitely not a bad thing that Apple now has them too. In addition, its implementation is sometimes even better and only positive for the user.maxi
There is power in the little things
We will stop at the various smaller gadgets first. iOS 9 is particularly characterized by improvements in the stability and operation of the entire system, but while the user does not notice these aspects (and takes the fact that the phone will not fall at any moment for granted), the small innovations in the nine system are what will make everyday work easier with an iPhone.
The best new feature in iOS 9 is the back button, which, paradoxically, is visually the smallest, but at the same time extremely effective. If in the new system you move from one application to another via a button, link or notification, a button will appear on the left instead of the operator in the top row Back to: and the name of the application from which you came to the current one.
On the one hand, it improves orientation, but above all, you can easily go back to where you were by clicking on the top panel. Open a link in Safari from Mail and want to go back to the email? You no longer need to double-press the Home button to activate the app switcher, but return with a single click. Easy and effective. After a few minutes, you'll get used to the Back button and feel like it was, or should have been, in iOS a long time ago.
After all, even the aforementioned application switcher underwent a rather significant change in iOS 9, which we could only understand with the arrival of the new iPhone 6S. The entire interface was modified just for them and their new 3D Touch display. Large tabs with previews of applications are now displayed, which are flipped through like a deck of cards, but a bit of a problem is that on the other hand, than it was before.
Habit is an iron shirt, so it will probably take you a while to get used to having to scroll left and not right after double-pressing the Home button. The change in direction is due to 3D Touch, because on it you can call up the application switcher by holding your finger at the left edge of the display (no need to press the Home button twice) - then the opposite direction makes sense.
Large cards are useful when you just need to copy something from another application. Thanks to the large preview, you can see the complete content and do not necessarily have to move to the application and open it. At the same time, the panel with contacts disappeared from the upper part of the switch, which, however, will hardly be missed by anyone. He didn't make much sense there.
In the Notification Center, it is nice that you can sort notifications by day and not just by application, but the button to delete all notifications is still missing. In this way, you will not avoid clicking on several small crosses if you do not clear the notifications regularly. Otherwise, Apple significantly improved notifications as such in iOS 9, as it opened them up to third-party developers. Therefore, it will be possible to reply not only to system Messages, but also to tweets or messages on Facebook from the top banner. It's just enough for the developers to implement this option.
The last little thing, which can solve many unfortunate moments, however, is the new keyboard. At first glance, it remains the same in iOS 9, but it can now display not only capital letters, but also lowercase letters. So there is no more conjecture whether Shift is currently active or not. As soon as you type a capital letter, you see capital letters; lowercase letters are displayed when you continue. It can solve a lot of problems for some, but for others it will be rather distracting years later. This is also why this news can be turned off. The same is the case with displaying a preview of a letter when you click on it.
Stability and efficiency in the first place
During the year, Apple engineers did not focus only on the above-mentioned small gadgets. They paid a lot of attention to the efficiency, stability and operation of the entire system. So in iOS 9, Apple promises you can get up to an hour of extra battery life from the same hardware as before. Although an extra hour is rather wishful thinking, in certain cases the new system can offer up to several dozen extra minutes.
Especially if you mainly use basic applications from Apple, the increase in battery life is true. The developers in Cupertino were able to optimize their own applications as much as possible, so they are more energy-efficient. In addition, you can now check how much an application "eats" in Settings, where more detailed statistics are available. You can see what percentage of battery each app is using and also how much it takes when it's active in the background. Thanks to this, you can optimize your workflow and eliminate demanding applications.
For extreme cases, Apple introduced a special Low Power Mode. This is automatically offered when the battery in the iPhone or iPad drops to 20%. If you activate it, the brightness will immediately be reduced to 35 percent, background sync will be limited and even the processing power of the device will be reduced. Apple claims that thanks to this you can get up to three hours longer battery life. Although this is an exaggeration and at 20 percent you will be waiting for dozens of extra minutes, but if you know that you will definitely need your iPhone in the near future, for example for an important phone call, and the battery is running low, you will welcome Low Power Mode.
In addition, it is possible to activate the energy saving mode manually. So you can save, for example, as soon as you take the phone out of the charger, if you know that you will be without electricity for a long time. However, you have to expect that the system will run slower, applications will take longer to load, and the biggest limitation may be low brightness in the end. But it's good to know that this option is in iOS 9.
Proactive Siri not so active here
Improved Siri, one of the strengths of the new iOS 9, is unfortunately something that we will only partially enjoy in the Czech Republic. Although Apple has significantly worked on its voice assistance and it is now more efficient and capable than ever before, but due to the absence of Czech support, it can only be used to a limited extent in our country.
To the redesigned screen with proactive However, we will also get Siri here. If you swipe left from the main screen, you'll find suggestions for contacts and apps based on your habits. For example, in the morning you'll find Messages if Siri detects that you regularly write messages after waking up, and in the evening you'll find your partner's contact if you usually talk to them at this time. In the United States, users also get suggestions from Maps and the new News app, but it's not yet available outside America at all.
In short, it's no longer just about the fact that you assign tasks to the phone and it fulfills them, but also about the fact that the phone itself, in this case Siri, offers you what you most likely want to do at that moment. So when you connect your favorite headphones, Siri can automatically offer you to launch Apple Music (or another player) and the like. However, it should be noted that although the development of Siri is sympathetic, Google, for example, is still further along with its Now. On the one hand, it supports the Czech language and thanks to the fact that it collects data about users, it can offer much more accurate suggestions.
There is still a search box above the new suggestions screen. You can directly access it by swiping down on the main screen. New in iOS 9 is the ability to search across all apps (that support it), making searching much more efficient. Easily find what you're looking for, wherever it is on your iPhone.
Finally a multifunctional iPad
While the innovations mentioned so far work universally on iPhones and iPads, we also find functions in iOS 9 that are exclusive to Apple tablets. And they are absolutely essential. Thanks to the latest system, iPads become multifunctional tools with increased productivity. This is the new multitasking, which now in iOS 9 really gets its meaning - multiple tasks at once.
The trio of modes, where you can display more than one application on the iPad screen and work with both, takes the use of both small and large tablets to a completely different level. At the same time, it is not only a primarily "consumer" device, and the overall efficiency of work on the iPad increases; for many, it is absolutely sufficient instead of a computer.
Apple offers three new multitasking modes. Split-screen allows you to run two applications side by side, in which you can work simultaneously. You have Safari open, you swipe from the right edge of the display and choose from the menu which application you want to open next to it. This is great for surfing the web, for example, while checking your mail, messages and more. Once iOS 9 third-party developers adapt, any app will be able to display this way. Everyone will surely find their use. However, split-screen only works on the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4 and, in the future, the iPad Pro.
By briefly dragging your finger from the right edge of the display, you can also invoke Slide-Over, when you will once again display a second application next to the existing one, but only roughly in the size we know from iPhones. This view is used, for example, to quickly check your mail or to unsubscribe from an incoming message. In addition, it also works on the first iPad Air and iPad mini from the second generation. In this mode, however, the original application is inactive, so it's really just a quick reply to a tweet or writing a short note.
Thanks to the third mode, you can combine content consumption with work. When you are watching a video in the system player (others are not supported yet) and press the Home button, the video will shrink and appear in the corner of the screen. You can then move the video around the screen at will and launch other applications behind it while the video is still playing. You can now watch your favorite videos on the iPad and use other applications at the same time. Like Slide-Over, Picture-in-Picture mode has been working since iPad Air and iPad mini 2.
The keyboard on iPads has also been improved. For one thing, it's easier to reach the formatting buttons that appear in the row above the letters, and when you slide two fingers over the keyboard, it turns into a touchpad. Then it is much easier to move the cursor in the text. The new iPhone 3S also offers the same function thanks to 6D Touch.
Notes on steroids
In iOS 9, Apple touched on some core apps, but Notes received the most care. After years of being really just a very simple notepad, Notes is becoming a very interesting app that can go toe-to-toe with established brands like Evernote. Although it still has a long way to go in terms of functionality, it will surely be enough for many users.
Notes kept its simplicity but finally added some features that users have been clamoring for. It is now possible to draw, add images, links, format or create a shopping list in the application, from which you can then tick off. The management of the notes themselves is also better, and since synchronization is running via iCloud, you always have everything immediately on all devices.
In OS X El Capitan, Notes received the same update, so they finally make sense for more than just the occasional short note. Evernote is far too complicated a product for my needs, and the simplicity of Notes suits me just fine.
System Maps got city public transport timetables in iOS 9, but it only works in selected cities and we definitely can't look forward to them in the Czech Republic. Google Maps still beats the apple ones in this regard. A very interesting novelty in the new system is the News application, a kind of Apple alternative to Flipboard.
The problem, however, is that this news aggregator, thanks to which Apple wants to offer users the best possible experience of reading their favorite newspapers and magazines, works only in the United States. In News, publishers have the opportunity to customize articles directly for a special and visually interesting application interface, and only time will tell if Apple has a chance to succeed in this market.
One more new app from Apple can be turned on in iOS 9. Just like on Mac, in iOS you can access your storage and browse files directly through the iCloud Drive application. With Safari, it is worth mentioning the support for ad blockers, which we will cover in the following days on Jablíčkář, and the Wi-Fi Assist function is interesting. This ensures that in the event of a weak or non-functional signal on the connected Wi-Fi, the iPhone or iPad will disconnect from the network and switch to a mobile connection. And if you'd like to create a new passcode lock in iOS 9, don't worry, six digits are now required, not just four.
Clear choice
Whether you were most impressed by the news under the hood in iOS 9, i.e. optimized performance and improved endurance, or little things that make everyday work more pleasant, or finally proper multitasking for iPad, one thing is certain – everyone should switch to iOS 9 now. Last year's experience with iOS 8 does encourage you to wait, but the nine is really a system that has been debugged since the first version, which will definitely not spoil your iPhones and iPads, but on the contrary will pleasantly improve them.
According to Apple, more than half of users have already switched to iOS 9 after a few days, or rather it is running on more than half of active devices, which is a confirmation that the engineers in Cupertino have done a really good job this year. We can only hope that this will be the case in the future.
the button back to the application is probably a stupid joke, isn't it? every windows phone, every android has that and placed within reach of the bottom sheets.... even the iphone puts it in the most stupid place from the point of view of ergonomics and you praise it here as the innovation of the century :)
Well yes. and change the navigation all android/windows applications have at the top/in the sidebar accessible from the hamburger. The question of what a person uses more often, but in stupidity they compete closely.
I'm happy with iOS, but I won't forgive the note(s). Many things could be changed/improved/remade, I'm not a SW engineer, I have no idea how many people work on the code... does the amount of news correspond to a year's work? How long does it take to change the font? Will this make iOS faster? The same way I look at MS and their Win 10 et al. The beginning of the text sounds like iOS keeps crashing, but now it doesn't (I only restart my phone when I run out of battery and that's as often as iOS updates...otherwise I don't have a reason...)
Low power mode is not for iPad, it only works on iPhones...
Well, I was always lucky and system crashes and other errors avoided me, so I ate it up with iOS 9. The 5S slowed down and started to chop (not to mention the iPad 3rd gen), the initial touch of the display after waking up or during search usually remains unrecognized and so annoyingly I have to type again. Proactive Siri doesn't offer me any results, only contacts and apps. As it also does not offer me quick access to Apple Music when connecting headphones. 90% of the notes that do not want to be synchronized from the cloud disappeared from the note app. The notification center loads very slowly and notifications sometimes cannot be deleted. But what annoyed me the most is that Apple Music on the iPhone arbitrarily decided to block access to the music library and it cannot be synchronized back. However, what can be evaluated positively is the aforementioned durability, which is really decent. The phone has 10%-14% more power when I return home, and in power saving mode, which I don't use otherwise, it lasted 1,5 days with heavy use. Which is good performance for a 2 year old iPhone 5S. By the way, when I tested the beta and then went back to the normal version, the phone does not offer me an update to iOS 9.0.1 but to beta 9.1….
And who screwed up iCloud backup like me? Both the iPad Air 2 and iPhone 4S hold the last successful update for me the day before I upgraded to iOS 9 and their size is 0KB instead of some 700-900MB per device. Anyone have any tips on how to get it back to normal?
http://forums.imore.com/ios-9/340753-after-upgrade-ios9-icloud-backup-says-0-bytes-all-apps-have-no-data-2.html
I read. In the end, I bought extra space on iCloud and after a few hours I had some kind of backup. At least now I have an iPad backed up for 11GB instead of about 700MB :-(
So check if you have photo backup turned on there. I had it turned off, after the update it turned on by itself and reported a lack of backup space. In the end, I also sacrificed the 20 CZK and bought the cheapest package in order to have problem-free synchronization to the MAC, where it has been glitching since iCloud Drive was introduced.
I had the same problem, the photo backup was turned on automatically and could not be backed up. After turning off everything as before.
Also the same, you need to check whether you have recorded videos, as they take up a lot of space and with a normal net without optics you have no chance to back it up.
I moved the videos to the PC, deleted them from the IP, and the backup was ready.
It was enough for me to delete the old backup. Since then backups on ios9 ok
It's interesting that the changes are supposed to be made mainly under the hood and it's supposed to be amazing as always and the like, but then, nothing much. I would even say worse than the betas. The last 9.0.1 completely "did" the rotation for me, 6+ is confused in the car (it's been a long time), but now it can't rotate back often, sometimes it's part landscape, part portrait, and I was pissed off the most when suddenly after switching to the application , which was last in a different orientation, I see the rotation again. Before, the application and the homescreen were rotated in the background, and immediately after switching, the rotation was as needed. Furthermore, since the first beta, I have had problems with BT handsfree, dropouts, interruptions. The app and the iPhone sometimes become unresponsive, I have to close the app and launch it again.
Of course, I understand that it takes time to fine-tune, but basically iOS9 is just tweaking the previous version and it's no glory :-( Hopefully they will fine-tune it, or at least it will be better on 6s+.
And if you saw what my Note 3 can do with applications, you'd be absolutely squealing. By dragging from the upper right corner, the application switches to a window. I can easily have 5 of them. All windows are active, I can scroll in them, write notes in them, etc. I use 2 applications quite often. I can change their size, I can move them freely around the display. Pleasant and functional. It must be a total bomb on a tablet. I've always really missed the back button on iOS. All app developers have always muttered something to the effect that controlling iOS is super intuitive. I was unhappy with him. I tried iOS for 2 months. Then I gave the phone to my friend and switched to the Note 3. I'm so satisfied that I don't even need to upgrade. My friend is also satisfied. It's a typical iPhone case. Simply a user. Sometimes I borrow her iPhone and just make sure that according to Note it's just a child's toy.
I also occasionally go to a Samsung store to confirm when a new Galaxy is released. The old 5S is faster than the new s6.
It crashes on the new iPad 4 mini... Ugh :/
What's going on? Running multiple applications requires a lot of RAM. I have 3GB on my Note 3. There was a lot of taunts about how you can get by with 512MB and suddenly you wonder if it's supposed to do anything. 512MB is enough to display statuses from fb. Otherwise, the mini 4 is quite powerful and has enough RAM. It would be surprising if it was cut.
I have to admit that iOS 9 is horribly laggy at times. I have an iPhone 6 and an iPad Air 2 and Spotlight crashes on both devices. It made me stop using Spotlight because the experience is the same as on a 2 Android. Apple screwed this up, the guys in the pub laugh at me for having a 000 phone and their Android for a third of the price is smoother :(
It is interesting that this feature is not mentioned at all in the article, it is still just praise, but objectivity somehow disappears.
Objectivity in iWeb? Well, they say they've already seen the Yeti.
I have one big reservation about stability: since iOS 8, Safari has been crashing for me (an error occurred on the page and it was reloaded), and it's definitely not better in the XNUMXth - in the new SafariView, which uses Twitteriffic, for example, it's even worse. Pages with embedded video usually crash. The problem manifests itself on the first generation iPad mini, the iPhone does not suffer from it. Has anyone had a similar experience or don't know how to fix it?
I have an iPad mini 2nd generation, it never did this until now on 9. It's all kind of sluggish. I tried downgrading via iTunes, I have a backup, but it doesn't work, the firmware stays the same, at least that's what iT tells me.
I won't even install 5 on the iP 9. Better no.
So I have reservations, I have an iP6 and I don't like it very much, I expected more. E.g. we had to cancel Siri suggestions because it was lagging when swiping. This didn't happen for even a hundredth of a second before, now you can tell when it's coming.
This is exactly what a colleague of the iPhone 5S noticed first. It was fine before, but iOS9 crashes it. Sad.
very embarrassing…
I haven't gone through the whole thing yet, but I definitely don't agree with the stability of iOS9, and the efficiency is also lacking at the moment - thanks to the slowness of the whole system and significantly delayed reactions. The button for going back to the previous application also had to be invented by someone who probably didn't even try to use it for a while. At least in my circumstances, it is important to have information about what network I am connected to, not to lose this information. This is how it can easily happen that something doesn't work for an unknown reason (switching to a slow network or a weak signal), or a person watches a video and pays FUP in good faith that he is still on wifi, while not seeing that he is pulling data from the mobile network (both at home and abroad this can be a big problem). They really screwed this up.
I have a problem with that too. And with the iP6, it's also one-handed. It's a big problem to press that button in the upper left corner. They really couldn't take it any further. In general, I really like the function, but it's almost unusable like this.
Another thing, my inbox has already shown over 3k unread messages 30 times. Fortunately, it was enough to open the mail client and it was fixed.
My observations from iOS9, iPhone 5S:
– Slight lag when I invoke spotlight search.
– Spotlight search, to the left of the first screen, sometimes behaves strangely. Swipe down doesn't work in it, just some weird state.
– I consider this a big fail: spotlight search, I'm looking for someone by company. He will find me one person, besides, I certainly have more of them there. I try searching in contacts, there I find 10 people by company. I'll try spotlight search again, one person found. I edit one of those 10 people in my contacts and hooray, spotlight search already finds 10 people by company. That said, I don't really trust the spotlight search.
– When someone calls me (lock screen), sometimes I can't answer it the first time. I'm just trying to drag the icon and sometimes it won't start dragging. So I try to grab her and then it goes. I never noticed it before, it always worked.
– After installing iOS 9.0.1, I mysteriously lost my privacy settings for photos, camera, contacts, reminders. The locations were preserved. So now all apps are asking me for permissions again. A colleague with a 5S did not experience this problem.
– AppStore, updated all applications. But two days back it offered me some apps to update which I already had updated with the update release date which I 100% updated. Several people on the net complained about this.
Agree on these points
– Slight lag when I invoke spotlight search.
– Spotlight search, to the left of the first screen, sometimes behaves strangely. Swipe down doesn't work in it, just some weird state.
I also have a problem searching for contacts via spotlight on the iP6. It works fine on iPad.
I have two phones on my desk, one on the 6 and one on the 9. If Apple really wants to achieve stability and efficiency, let the 10 be repainted with ios6 and have everything you need!!!! who is really leading himself, he can see the nonsense where Apple is going!!!
...and so I was looking forward to the fact that after 7 and 8, a really well-rounded system will come that will be more pleasant
Let the design be exactly the same as iOS 6... From the seventh grade on up, it's a raucous and inexplicable circus - simply design horror and horror... But as we know from Apple's recent times, there will still be room for improvement - white writing on a white background - that will happen read even better than the current fine print...
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who doesn't mind the disgusting white milk with children's 2D drawings. That's why I stick to iOS6 and boycott anything higher. Just recently I was looking at how the calculator looks on iOS9 and on iOS6... heaven and bagpipes. And unfortunately Mac OS X is in a similar situation. I stay on Snow Leopard because the higher versions are just 2D crap.
I'm also on iOS6 and then I'm extremely calm. I didn't even think that iOS9 would be different, mainly in terms of graphics, which just doesn't appeal to me and actually has minimal user changes and innovations.... It seems to me that there is a time when form is more important than content, and since the death of Jobs, Apple has also appropriated this motto... but maybe I'm just a can...
I have an iP6 16GB with iOS 9.0.1. What I have noticed so far as inconveniences:
– spotlight lags (it was already mentioned here),
– sometimes, when I want to write an SMS, the keyboard is completely missing, it does not appear, so I have nowhere to write. Only restarting the SMS application will help, then the keyboard will appear,
– if I enter a thread in SMS where I am writing with someone, it positions it in the middle of the conversation, not at the end, as it used to be,
– in the calendar, the graphic is shifted so that it cuts the font of the previous day, i.e. it is not aligned on the current day.
Otherwise, I find the 9.0.1 system beautifully fluid even with the parallax effect turned on.
In iOS 9, the mentioned bugs were also there.
What is your experience with the calendar and SMS? Does it work for you too?
Can anyone tell me if you also get a google translated page in Safari (or any other browser) on the iPad Air extremely enlarged and can't even be manually scaled down? It does it for me, for example, in iCabMobile, Mercury and Opera. It does this in both 9.0 and 9.0.1. After switching back to 8.4.1 everything is OK
Ask men how to do it from 9.0.1. switch back to 8.4.1diky for help.
Via DFU
I see the change of working with the 3-sided keyboard as very important, when iOS9 still doesn't throw them away and it can finally be used to its full potential.
Finally, when searching for a contact in Spotlight, you can immediately select the call or message option, hooray.
Unfortunately, I notice a shorter battery life (iP6 and iPm2), and I also lack the option to limit the number of notifications in the notification center per application. So no longer the last 5, but maybe 50 posts from Twitter. I also miss Kiosk.
Koisk is now like a folder.
I am happy with ios 9, only one thing bothers me. I don't speak much English and I have a bit of a problem with the TomTom navigation, which is English in ios 9. I couldn't find settings for Czech anywhere. Is this a feature of ios and TomTom will have to adapt or is there a bug in ios? And can something be done to make it Czech?
Thanks for the reply
It's a worldwide problem and TomTom knows it. Even though they claim it's an ios9 bug, hopefully they'll release a new version.
It also pissed me off when I found out that they switched to EN and it's not even possible to put CZ/SK back there. But that will only be a SW error and they have to fix it in TomTom. But such things sometimes get quite annoying. I have had a TomTom for over 6 years and nothing like this has ever happened.
Can't download Office Docs through Safari on iOS 9... A clear step back... Without it, moving to a new system doesn't make sense to me...
So my first impressions of iOS9 were not as sunny as here on the apple store, after all I wrote a short article about it here: http://ondrazdobinsky.blogspot.cz/2015/09/ios9-prvni-dojmy.html still, satisfaction.
Bugs were to be expected, that's normal, and the most important thing is how quickly Apple can patch them. Against iOS7, I don't even want to remember, that's a convenience, and by the end of the year it was functional without any problems - here it's a matter of a few weeks max.
After the update, one day my iPad consumed 3% of the battery in 80 hours just while browsing the net. I did a clean reinstall and it's been fine ever since. iPhone 5S without error from the beginning. It's a bit slower at times, but I really think it will get better...
On iOS 9.0.1, I don't like that when switching applications by double-clicking the Home button, the displayed previews are not active, so when I receive a message, for example on Whatsapp or Viber, it does not appear in the preview and I have to launch the application to check whether I have new administration. iOS 8.4.1 had previews enabled.
On my iPhone 5S, the preview updates. E.g. even a running watch from the desktop or the web.
And do you have iOS 9.0.1 installed? In it, there are certainly previews of the application passively, as well as icons of individual programs above the previews.
When I press the home button twice, app previews appear with icons above them. The previews are live, for example Safari or the desktop where the second hand is running on the clock icon, or the Clock app where the second hand is also running. The icon above the preview is not live.
iPhone 5S, 16GB, without restrictions such as reduce motion, etc.
And of course 9.0.1 and now 9.0.2.
did it happen to disappear how much each app takes up mb?
The app suggestions from Siri in the spotlight are very useful. Logically, if I use an application a lot, I have it on the homescreen and thus an available drive rather than in the spotlight. In addition, these app suggestions change according to current usage, so there is never what I want there. So off. It's better to put the launcher in the notification center and put frequently used apps there.
Apple has been out lately. Nejdriv puts the contacts in the pre-pinning application, then the apps in the spotlight. Has anyone thought it through at all, or they are dealing with it in a way that, translated from AJ, can be described as throwing things on the wall and waiting to see what happens to it.
I perceive iOS 9 more like an insult to us, the users. Even after the hundredth update, it's still worth a bullet. Even on the latest devices it lags, freezes, some applications are no longer usable, some don't work at all, I just didn't buy such devices, but now I have such crap for the money and I can't do anything about it. New font? Why? Why exactly such a thing? What is the benefit? Has anyone even considered what impact this might have? For example, try searching for some Student Agency bus routes in the Tickets application. Great, right? You can uninstall it straight away. TV program in the O2 TV app? It works on the iPhone, but not on the iPad - I can delete it there too. I won't even go on, it just makes you angry. I haven't had so many freezes in applications in the whole past year. How can anyone at Apple even release something like this into the world? Why not focus at least one third on quality and reliability? What good are their faltering innovations? When will they finally make something that works perfectly?
And if it only went crazy in 3rd party applications. :-) I'm working on Pages right now on my iPad and it's horrible. Not even the text editor in Works worked this poorly 20 years ago. A real shame. You start a document, you want to use the buttons to set the font size (size 11 is not exactly standard) and it doesn't work. :-D You write some text, highlight it, and suddenly the resizing buttons work, you just don't know what size it is - it keeps showing size 11. Then you try again as you type, but sometimes the buttons respond, sometimes they don't. In any case, it shows a size 11. So you close it, go to MS Word, and hope you don't have to throw all that overpriced stuff in the corner and go get a laptop.
Pages - that's a tragedy at all. Synchronization problems forever. Documents in iCloud Drive don't show up at all in Pages on my iPhone. They are on the iPad, I can also see them in the iCloud Drive application on the iPhone, but not at all in Pages. The app is just dead. I already dealt with it once with support over the phone and I lost all the documents as a result of their procedure, for which they apologized to me. :-D Of course, I didn't take anything from that. Really professionals.
Unfortunately, setting up Pages to work with iCloud is not as trivial as it might seem. Although it is an Apple product and cooperation with iCloud Drive is assumed, it is not enough just to see the switch on the Pages application in Settings - iCloud - iCloud Drive. Apple has not been that simple for a long time. Now it is also necessary to go to Settings - Pages and there also check the settings of the switch Use iCloud. I guess some smart head from Cupertino decided to mess with you a little. :-)
It's shit non plus ultra. For this, Kukuku should stuff a slightly bigger dildo in his rectum than usual...
Almost nothing works for us on the iPad Air 2 and iPhone 5S. Searched in Safari, cannot log in to iCloud, e.g. on iPad 2 cannot download 9.0.1 at all.
It's an amateur's trick.

Hello,
I'm probably overlooking something somewhere, but when viewing a slow-motion video, it is no longer possible to change and move the place where the video should run in slow-motion...
Has anyone figured out how to get this working? In iOS 8 it was neat and clear, here almost nothing is clear...
There is a new fnc. "edit" where possible.
The Wi-Fi assistant is also a nice touch. It is automatically turned on, drowned very deep in the menu and, for example, it has already caused FUP exhaustion in everyone at our house, even though we could function just fine on the home wifi. The kids are in their room watching videos on YT and I get a message that they have used up their FUP not even halfway through the term. And before I get to the heart of poodle - a great feature in the new iOS, it's taken care of. Well, at least now I know that I shouldn't scold children, not even on wifi, but at those smart people from Cupertino.
Somehow iOS 9 failed them, iPAD mini is down since installing this. "swipe to upgrade" and that's it. He shines like mad and that's it! It doesn't go forward or back. Does anyone know what to do with it? Thanks
I don't know if I'm exceptional, but after installing iOS 9 on both iPhone and iPad, and OS El Capitan on Mac mini, everything runs like clockwork for me and at an incredible speed. After a long time I feel like shouting "Glory to Apple !!!" :)
So I was personally upset that the hotspot suddenly stopped working on my 2nd generation iPad after the update. It is said that it is no longer supported in this model. Like why the hell?!
same problem with hotspot. How is it possible that they "disable" a function without informing me beforehand (as part of the update information)? Solution?
Hello, could I ask everyone here to answer the following question? This is an explanation of the Wifi assist function, I didn't really understand the meaning of this function. If I have mobile data and wifi on at the same time on the old 8.4.1 system. which does not have this function, so if my wifi signal is weak and I lose the signal, the phone uses mobile data, so what does this "new" function consist of? After all, this is how it already works with 8.4.1. I have another question about turning on mobile data and wifi at the same time, when I am connected to wifi, the phone does not use data in any way? Resp. until I turn off wifi? Therefore, I don't really understand the description directly in the menu, where it is written that ..."if you want to transfer all data, web content, etc. via WiFi, turn off mobile data". This in turn defies logic that when both are turned on they primarily use wifi. So why are there individual options in the settings for applications whether I wish to use mobile data, why? Thanks in advance for the explanation.
It should be an automatic switch to mobile data when the WiFi signal is already very bad or very weak. It usually happened to me that when I left a company or a house where I was on WiFi, the phone tried hard to maintain WiFi, but it almost didn't work anymore. And it's easy even in the parking lot. The result was that it took some time before it switched to mobile data while I was without internet.
With WiFi assist, it switches much earlier.
It is possible that it is only some fictitious signal quality limit, which, when exceeded, will switch to mobile data.
Thanks for the response, but I still don't understand how it works. If I have Wi-Fi at home and I move away, the signal is already very weak and I have mobile data turned on at the same time, the Wi-Fi turns off by itself and the mobile data remains (with 8.4.1), so I am still convinced that the new "function" Wi-Fi Assist does not practically bring anything new , maybe just a little bit better on what worked before. Would anyone please know the answer to the second part of the question, i.e. whether to leave mobile data and wifi on at the same time? How data use works, or priorities. Why is there a function in the menu to select the use of mobile data for individual applications? So far, I always turn mobile data off and wifi on, and when I leave home, I turn mobile data back on manually...Thanks.

Those options in the menu, for allowing applications, it's quite good if you have some applications that take a lot of data and you don't want to eat up the limited package from the mobile operator, so you simply disable these applications and from that moment they will only have access via Wi-Fi.
Personally, I never turn off mobile data, I see no reason for it.
