Apple has its first and only AirTag, Samsung already has the second generation SmartTag, and then there are more and more manufacturers. But the Czech Fixed has now introduced something that neither Apple nor Samsung has and you simply want it. The FIXED Tag Card fits into every wallet, which cannot be said about the previous two.
So the FIXED Tag Card is a smart card that has more advantages than just being flat. Although the AirTag has a small diameter, it is unnecessarily thick. Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 is again unnecessarily bulky, although it at least has an interesting design with an eye. The dimensions of the card are 85 x 54 mm, which, if you didn't know, are the standardized dimensions of a classic payment card. Thanks to this, it fits into any wallet. Its thickness is 2,6 mm, which is still more than classic cards, but the technology had to fit in somewhere. And no, it definitely doesn't matter. By the way, the AirTag is 8 mm.
You can choose from several colors, which is also a difference compared to the competition. AirTag is only white, Samsung's solution is white or black, but here you can go for more interesting variants: blue, red and black. The last mentioned option has no graphics other than the logo, the other two are a bit more interesting after all. The material is plastic, which is quite pleasant to the touch, although it's true that you won't be handling the card too much, so it doesn't really matter. But it definitely does not look cheap, the edges are also pleasantly rounded. The front still has a button to pair the card with your iPhone. In addition, the card is resistant if you accidentally take a bath with your wallet in your pocket, according to the IP67 standard.
Clear added value
In order to use the card's full potential, no specialized application is needed other than Apple's own, namely its Find platform. It is also fully certified for her, where all communication is of course properly encrypted. It also has a built-in speaker, so it can make itself known by sound when you look for it in your range. However, the speaker is loud enough for how small the device is.
Pairing is very simple. In the Find app's Subjects tab, you just type Add another subject and then press the tab button. You will receive a sound and activate the pairing. Then you just confirm what you see on the iPhone display. This links the card to your Apple ID. The functionality is then identical to AirTag. It communicates with your device, you can set up a forget notification, you can even mark it as lost. Finders can also view a message that you specify yourself. The card can also be shared between users.
In addition, there is also a notification of others that they have a similar device, which is also a function of AirTags to prevent stalking - of course, if the person with the card is moving and you are not. The only thing missing here is local search, as it requires the U1 chip, which Apple doesn't share.
Once a year you need to replace the AirTag battery. It's not expensive or difficult, but you have to buy it somewhere and think about it, otherwise the tracker will drain and lose its purpose. You don't have a replaceable battery here, you charge the card wirelessly. It lasts for three months on a single charge, and as soon as you see the battery running low, you place the card on any Qi charger. On the back of the card you will find the center of the coil for better positioning on the charger.
But the wallet is not the only place where you can use the card. Thanks to its small (flat) dimensions, it fits in the car, backpack, luggage and clothes. However, it does not have an eye for attachment (just like the AirTag). The price of the card is CZK 899, which is CZK 9 more than the price for which you can buy an AirTag directly from Apple. But it has an inappropriate shape and a sloppy design. Here, many people around you won't know what you actually have in your wallet, and that's a plus for you and a minus for potential criminal elements.
