Partly because of this, a separate category of accessories was created, which includes car holders in a variety of designs. One of them is also the FIXED Icon, which we tested in the editorial office. Although at first glance it is a classic phone holder for the ventilation grill, it is after all something special - it was designed by the Czech design studio NOVO.

FIXED Icon is a magnetic holder that you place in the ventilation grill, where it holds the barrel firmly thanks to the double spring in the jaws. A total of six strong magnets are hidden inside the holder for firm attachment of the phone. In addition, the magnets do not interfere with the mobile signal and are safe for the phone. The holder also has a hinge for easily turning the phone into the ideal position so that its display is always in sight. According to my experience, the joint holds its position well, while handling it is easy.
Since the phone is attached to the holder by magnetic force, in addition to the holder, the device itself must also be equipped with a magnet. There are two metal plates in the product package that can be stuck either directly on the back of the phone or on the packaging. In the case of FIXED, the plate is quite nicely processed and, for example, is not very visible on the black packaging. In addition, the adhesive is strong enough and it does not happen that the cover peels off when removing the phone from the holder, as is often the case with competing holders.
Although it is a possible solution, I personally do not prefer gluing the plastic to the packaging or even to the phone. Of course, you can reserve an ordinary cover for this purpose for a few tens of crowns, so as not to damage, for example, the original leather cover from Apple. However, from my own experience, I recommend getting a cover that already has a built-in magnet. Such packaging costs a maximum of hundreds of crowns less, is available in various designs and works reliably with magnetic holders.
However, in addition to the already mentioned plates, you will also find a cable organizer in the package. You can easily attach it to the back of the holder, and even though it may seem unnecessary at first glance, it is actually quite a practical accessory. You can attach a Lightning cable to the organizer, so you always have it at hand when you want to charge your phone. And once you disconnect the phone, the cable stays in the holder and therefore does not get in the way of the gear lever, or you do not have to clean it in the passenger compartment.
In conclusion, there is not much to criticize about the FIXED Icon holder. It is clearly well-made, offers a design that does not disturb the interior of the car in any way, has strong magnets that hold the phone without any problems even when driving on worse terrain (read Czech roads), holds firmly in the ventilation grille and also contains a useful cable organizer. A disadvantage can be metal plates, which not everyone - including me - wants to stick to the packaging or directly to the phone. An alternative solution can be the purchase of a magnetic cover for a specific iPhone model.
It should also be noted that FIXED Icon rebuilds a series of three car phone holders. While in the editorial office we tested the holder for the ventilation grille (Icon Air Vent), the offer also includes a pair of holders for the dashboard (Icon Dash and Ixon Flex), which differ only in design.
