I grew to love Fantastical very quickly on the Mac. It wasn't a traditional "big" calendar, but just a little helper sitting in the top bar that was always at hand when needed, and it was easy to create events with it. And the developers have now perfectly transferred all this to the apple phone. Welcome to Fantastical for iPhone.

If you liked Fantastical on the Mac, then you will surely get along with its mobile version as well. Fantastical was no longer huge on the Mac, so the Flexibits developers didn't even have to shrink it too much. They just adapted it to a touch interface, a smaller display and created a perfectly simple calendar that is a joy to work with.

Personally, I haven't used the default Calendar on my iPhone for years, but it occupied my first screen Calvetica. However, it slowly stopped entertaining me after a long time, and Fantastical seems like an excellent successor - it can do more or less what Calvetica could do, but serves it in a much more attractive jacket.

Flexibits came up with a new user interface and offers a new look at the calendar using the so-called DayTicker. This consists in the fact that in the upper part of the screen, individual days are "rolled" in which the recorded events are outlined in color, and these are then described in more detail below. Using a swipe gesture, you can easily scroll through all planned and past events, while the upper panel also rotates depending on the scrolling of the event list and vice versa. Everything is connected and works.

However, such a view alone would not be enough. At that moment, all you have to do is take the DayTicker and pull it down with your finger, and suddenly the traditional monthly overview will appear in front of you. You can switch back between this classic view and the DayTicker by swiping down. In the monthly calendar, Fantastical offers colored dots under each day signaling the created event, which is already a kind of standard among iOS calendars.

However, an important part of Fantastical is the creation of events. Either the plus button in the upper right corner is used for this, or you can hold your finger on any date (it works in the monthly overview and DayTicker) and you immediately create an event for the given day. However, the real power of Fantastical lies in the event input itself, just like the Mac version. The application recognizes when you write the venue, date or time in the text and automatically fills in the corresponding fields. You don't have to expand the details of the event in such a complicated way and fill in the individual fields one by one, but just write "Meeting with the boss" in the text field at Prague on Monday 16:00" and Fantastical will create an event for the following Monday at 16:XNUMX in Prague. English names are used because, unfortunately, the application does not support Czech, but non-English speaking users will learn these basic prepositions. Inserting events is then really convenient.

I've only been using Fantastical for a few hours, but I've already grown to like it. The developers took care of every little thing, every animation, every graphic element, so even just inserting events (at least at first) is an interesting experience, when the color pencil in the calendar and the numbers around it actually move.

But to keep from praising, it's clear that Fantastical also has its flaws. It is definitely not a tool for demanding users who need to "squeeze" as much as possible out of the calendar. Fantastical is a solution for relatively undemanding users who mainly want to create new events as quickly as possible and have an easy overview of them. The application from Flexibits lacks, for example, a weekly view, which many people require, or a landscape view. However, if you don't need these features, then Fantastical is clearly a great candidate for your new calendar. Supports iCloud, Google Calendar, Exchange and more.
