AirPods are one of the most successful Apple products of recent times. Users are enthusiastic about them mainly due to the simple operation, great sound and in general these wireless headphones are able to fit perfectly into the Apple ecosystem. However, what can easily put off some users is their price. For someone who listens to music only occasionally, it is of course pointless to pay nearly five thousand crowns for headphones, even over seven thousand in the Pro version. Manufacturers of alternative accessories decided to fill this hole in the market, including Swissten, which came up with Swissten Flypods headphones. The similar name is definitely not just a coincidence, which we will see together in the next lines.

Technical Specifications

As you can already guess from the name, the Swissten Flypods headphones were inspired by the AirPods, which come from the Californian giant. These are wireless in-ear headphones, their ends are in the form of classic beads. At first glance, you would probably recognize them compared to the original AirPods only because of their longer length, but you would probably find that out only after a "face-to-face" comparison. Swissten Flypods have Bluetooth 5.0 technology, thanks to which they have a range of up to 10 meters. Inside each earphone is a 30 mAh battery that can last up to three hours of music playback. The charging case itself, which you get with the FlyPods, has a 300 mAh battery - so in total, together with the case, the headphones can play for about 12 hours. The weight of one earphone is 3,6 g, the dimensions are then 43 x 16 x 17 mm. The frequency range of the headphones is 20 Hz – 20 KHz and the sensitivity is 100 db (+- 3 db). If we look at the case, its size is 52 x 52 x 21 mm and the weight is 26 g.

If we compare the size and weight data of the Swissten Flypods with the original AirPods, we find that they are very similar. In the case of AirPods, the weight of one earphone is 4 g and the dimensions are 41 x 17 x 18 mm. If we add the case to this comparison, we again get very similar values that differ only minimally – the AirPods case has dimensions of 54 x 44 x 21 mm and its weight is 43 g, which is almost 2 more than the case from Swissten Flypods. However, this is only for the sake of interest, as the Swissten Flypods are at a completely different price level compared to the original AirPods, and it is not appropriate to compare these products.

Packing

If we look at the packaging of the Swissten FlyPods headphones, you will certainly not be surprised by the classic design that Swissten is used to. The headphones are therefore packed in a white-red box. Its forehead can be flipped so that you can look at the headphones through the transparent layer. On the other side of the folded part, you can see how the headphones look in the ears. On the closed front of the box you will find the specifications of the headphones and on the back instructions for proper use. After opening the box, all you have to do is pull out the plastic carrying case, which contains the charging case, the headphones themselves and the charging microUSB cable. The package also includes a detailed manual that explains how to properly connect the headphones.

Processing

If we look at the processing of the FlyPods headphones, we will find that the lower price really had to be reflected somewhere. Right from the start, you will most likely be struck by the fact that the headphones are not inserted into the case from above, but rather the charging case must be folded completely "outside". The first time you open it, you are a little unsure because of the plastic hinge on which the entire mechanism works. The headphones are then charged in the charging case using two gold-plated contacts, which are of course also found on both headphones. As soon as these two contacts are connected, charging takes place. The processing of the case could therefore be a bit better and of higher quality - the good news is that the quality of the processing is already better in the case of the headphones themselves. Even in this case, the headphones are made of plastic, but you can tell right from the first touch that it is a higher quality plastic, which is a little more similar to the quality of the AirPods themselves. However, I do not like the fact that the stem of the headphones is rectangular and not round - because of this, the headphones are a little harder to hold in the hand.

Personal experience

I have to admit that in my case it's a bit worse with headphone testing. Few headphones stay in my ears, even with AirPods, which probably fit the majority of the population, I don't get to the point where I can run or do other activities with them. The Swissten FlyPods hold a little worse in my ears than the original AirPods, but I want to point out the fact that this is a subjective opinion – each of us has completely different ears and of course one pair of headphones cannot fit everyone. Perhaps, however, Swissten will start with FlyPods Pro, which would have a plug end and would hold in my ears better than classic buds.

Comparison of Swissten FlyPods with AirPods:

If we look at the sound side of the headphones, they will probably neither excite nor offend you. In terms of sound, the headphones are rather average and "without emotion" - so don't expect great bass or treble. The FlyPods are trying to stay in the midrange all the time, where they do very well. Slight sound distortion only occurs at really high volumes. Of course, FlyPods do not have the ability to automatically start music after inserting the headphones into the ears - we would be somewhere else in terms of price and closer to AirPods. So, if you are looking for ordinary headphones that you will simply use for occasional listening, you will definitely not go wrong. As for battery life, I can more or less confirm the manufacturer's claims - I got about 2 and a half hours (without charging in the case) while listening to music with the volume set slightly above average.

záver

If you are looking for wireless headphones, but you don't want to spend nearly five thousand crowns on them, Swissten FlyPods are definitely a good choice. You might be a bit disappointed by the poor workmanship of the case, but the headphones themselves are made of high quality and durable. In terms of sound, the FlyPods don't excel either, but they certainly won't offend you either. However, it is necessary to answer the question whether the stone construction of the headphones will suit you and whether the headphones will hold in your ears. If you have no problem with ear buds, I can recommend FlyPods.
