Vratislav Holub Press Release: Rakuten Viber, the leading communication platform in the Central and Eastern Europe region, conducted a survey among its more than four million users in nine countries on the occasion of International Privacy Day. The main topic of the survey was the importance of personal data protection in digital communication. The survey was conducted in the official communities of Rakuten Viber v Czechia, in Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and Greece and aimed to find out what is important to users in the digital environment. The poll ensured immediate user response and the opinion of more than 170 people. More than 000 users of the Rakuten Viber platform participated in the Czech Republic.
When asked how important the protection of personal data is, 57% of users from the Czech Republic answered that this question seems important to them, but they do not know much about this topic. For 39% of respondents, the protection of personal data on the Internet is a very important topic in which they are actively interested. This is even the case for 82% of respondents in the entire region. Respondents from Poland, Slovenia and Greece were most interested in the area of personal data protection. On the contrary, it is less important for the Czech and Slovak survey participants.

Users were also asked if they found the current level of personal data protection sufficient. Here, 73% of respondents in the Czech Republic believe that more regulation is needed. Only 20% of respondents are satisfied with the current situation.
When using communication applications, the most important thing for Czech users is that the application does not use their personal data beyond what it needs to function. Survey participants in Poland and Slovenia answered in the same way.
The last question was directly related to the communication platform Rakuten Viber, and according to the results, more than 90% of respondents believe that using the application is safe.
