Press Release: From now on, Slovaks can be inspired by various effects and send their creative photos or videos directly in the chat. Rakuten Viber, which is also a global leader in messaging and voice communication, is pushing its own boundaries by adding a series of new augmented reality (AR) lenses to its Slovakian app. The app now introduces so-called Bitmoji, or personalized cartoon versions of avatars, which can be added to your photos and videos, or create your own stickers. The addition of lenses to the Viber application was made possible thanks to a partnership with Snap Inc - the developer of the popular Snapchat.

Rakuten Viber AR lenses

AR lenses make communication significantly more fun, memorable and interesting. Of course, Rakuten Viber is also aware of this, which is why it offers its users a literally wide portfolio of creativity for creating interesting photos and videos and then sharing them with friends or on other platforms. Augmented reality lenses react in this way even to the smallest facial movements, which ensures the capture of facial movements, smiles or winks and gives them a great touch.

Viber provides a wide range of design options, including:

  • lenses that add objects and various textures directly to the face, body parts or background. This can be hats, tattoos, paintings, graphics and more.
  • realistic filters that change the color of the skin, add make-up or glitter, or can change the entire hairstyle.
  • lenses that can change your appearance completely, for example to an animal.
  • gamification lenses that users can send to each other and simply compete with each other.

Up to 30 such lenses are available in the app during launch. In addition, the company continues its traditions, and in order to stay as close as possible to its users throughout, it will gradually add special lenses designed exclusively for Slovak users. Students can enjoy the current start of the school year, for example, by randomly generating their future occupations, while sports fans will certainly be pleased with the festive filter with the Slovak national flag.

Overall, the company plans to add up to 300 lenses, which it wants to achieve with regular (monthly updates) by the end of this year. Even the senior director of EMENA, Rakuten Viber himself mentioned that over the last year, communication around the world has rapidly moved to the online space, which needs to be responded to. It is precisely for this reason that now AR lenses are coming, which will allow the creativity of the users themselves to be developed, and in addition, it is a fun diversion. Even other companies will be able to add their lenses to Viber. WWF and FC Barcelona, or even the World Health Organization, are already the first partners. In the future, Slovak brands should also stand by their side.
