Apple has prepared several changes in the rules of the App Store for this week. While apps focused on addictive substances are fine again, the new rules prohibit the display of weapons and violence in icons and sample screenshots and videos.

Apps such as the social network may return to iOS devices MassRoots focused on marijuana. To this day, according to the existing rules, it was not allowed to be offered in the App Store, but Apple eventually changed its mind. The application can now appear in the store under the condition that it will be available only in American states that have legalized the use of marijuana.

A change in the opposite direction, i.e. tightening, on the other hand, must be solved by action game developers. According to Apple news server Pocket Gamer started rejecting those applications whose icon or sample materials do not correspond to the age category 4+. Although this rule has existed in the App Store for a long time, developers and Apple itself have more or less ignored it until today.

Censored icons, screenshots and video samples are slowly starting to appear in the iOS app store. In all cases, it involves the depiction of weapons and violence. According to the game developer Tap Army the Californian company was bothered by "game characters pointing guns at each other". At the same time, the authors add that it is difficult for them to present their application without similar images. Other games whose presentation had to be changed are for example Time, Into the dead or Rooster Teeth vs. Zombies.

Another change is the increase in the maximum size of the installation package of iOS applications. The previous limit of 2 GB has been doubled to 4 GB, and while this may seem like a huge number, some newer games have already managed to exceed it. According to Apple, the limit for downloads via the operator's mobile network will remain at the current 100 MB.

And the last novelty of the (American) App Store, which could please users the most, is a new collection of games called Pay Once & Play. It is a similar list of applications such as the previous Great Apps for iOS 8, Apps for Health or One-Touch Games. The new collection provides an overview of selected games that do not contain any additional purchases (in-app purchases). It features, for example, Threes, Thomas Was Alone, XCOM, Minecraft or Blek.
