Michal Marek If you live, study, work, or stay in Prague for any other reason, you probably sometimes think about where to go, where to have fun and what to do to get rid of boredom. Our capital city is a place of almost unlimited possibilities and a great center of culture and entertainment, but how do you find out about hundreds of different cultural events and events and find your way around them? One of the ways and a handy helper in finding the ideal entertainment is the Qool 2 application.
As soon as you open the application, you will be greeted by the main screen called "News". Here you will see a clear list of the latest events in the horizon of the next few days, which were selected as the most interesting by the editors of Qool.cz. The events are arranged below each other and the name of the given cultural event, the date and time of the event, a preview image and the beginning of the promotional text can always be seen in the list. You can conveniently filter the list to display, for example, only music events, exhibitions or theatre, or conversely sports, trips and so on.
You can slide your finger over each item to bring up a menu of quick actions. These include the ability to instantly mark an event with a thumbs up, add it to your favorites or be redirected to the system Maps and navigate to it. It is also possible to open each event and find out detailed information about it. In addition, this information can be shared with friends on social networks or via e-mail, which you can achieve by using the classic settlement button, which is well known in iOS.
The second screen of the application called "Actions" is tuned very similarly. However, this is a complete chronological overview of all actions in the database and is not taken over by any editors. Of course, no long-term events or films are included in the section, because they would simply not fit into the chronological order and would only cause confusion. Items in the "Events" section can also be conveniently filtered, and compared to the "News" page, it is also possible to manually search for events. There is a classic search box at the top of the screen.
Another way to search for the ideal type of entertainment for you is offered by the "Nearby" screen. The upper part of this screen is dominated by a small map of your surroundings. Places where interesting events are taking place are clearly marked on it. Below the map is a list of events sorted by their distance. Again, a filter and search box are available, thanks to which cultural events can also be searched manually. The map can eventually be expanded to the entire screen with one touch, so that events can be searched exclusively on it.
The Qool app is also interesting in that it offers a list of currently showing movies. You are not dependent on the programs of individual cinemas. In the application, you can go through the current offer of films, read information about each of them that interests you, and directly in the application you can also see their ratings from the ČSFD and the American IMDB. You can also click through the app directly to the movie pages on these two movie databases. On the plus side, the link will open in Safari, so you're not tied to any built-in browser. They are not usually successful and fast.
The last and perhaps the most interesting part of the application is "Places". Here is a list of individual categories of entertainment and you can conveniently choose the one that interests you. So, for example, you choose theaters and the application will show you a list of all theaters and information about them. In the same way, cinemas, sports events and sports grounds, places for leisure, tips for trips or various places intended for exhibitions (museums, galleries or fairs) can be displayed.
The Qool 2 application supports push notifications, thanks to which the user can be notified of unexpected changes related to his favorite cultural event. Notifications can then also be used to notify you in time of the start of your chosen event, so you should not miss anything with this application. Another great feature is the ability to purchase discounted tickets using the app and then save them to Passbook. However, not all actions allow this function. Qool 2 is a Czech application and is therefore in Czech, but it also has its own English version. However, the content itself has not been translated into English for the most part.
The application impresses above all with its intuitive control, excellent design that perfectly fits into the modern iOS 7, but also with a relatively large informational value. In one place, you can basically find all kinds of entertainment, so everyone really has something to choose from in the app. The integration of a QR code reader is also interesting, as these codes are appearing more and more on posters and billboards promoting cultural events. The application has already undergone a relatively long and progressive development, and now it is possible to say without regret that it is successful, comprehensive and very useful.
