QNAP releases QTS 4.4.1 Beta 3: brings VJBOD Cloud, CacheMount and other news

Press Release: QNAP today released QTS 4.4.1 beta 3, the latest version of the QNAP NAS operating system. Starting today, QNAP NAS users can enjoy the QTS 4.4.1 beta 3 update. QNAP warmly invites users to participate in the Beta Program and provide feedback. This will allow QNAP to further improve QTS and provide an even more comprehensive and secure user experience.

An eagerly awaited application VJBOD Cloud, a block-based cloud storage solution, is now available as of QTS 4.4.1 beta 3. VJBOD Cloud allows you to map cloud storage space in QNAP NAS as block-based cloud volumes, providing a secure and scalable method for storing local application data, user data, or for performing secure backups. Local cache support implements low-latency access to alleviate access speed concerns. VJBOD Cloud supports ten cloud object storage services (including Amazon S3, Google Cloud, and Azure). The cloud storage connection and local cache features in VJBOD Cloud allow you to use LAN-level speed for data in the cloud.

In addition to the VJBOD Cloud application, QNAP NAS also supports CacheMount, a cloud storage file solution service that enables local caching for connected cloud storage and provides a comprehensive hybrid cloud environment to optimally meet the needs of users in various use cases. CacheMount replaces the Remote Connect feature in File Station and Connect to Cloud Drive. Users must install CacheMount in the App Center to use remote connection services.

Key new features and improvements in QTS 4.4.1 beta 3 include, but are not limited to:

Multimedia Console unifies all QTS multimedia applications into one tool, thus enabling simple and centralized management of multimedia applications. The Multimedia Console also allows you to configure the CacheMount share as a folder for background transcoding.
Queue Station integrates Microsoft® Office Online and allows users to preview and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files stored on the NAS online.
Users can create and centrally manage VJBOD Cloud volumes in an item Storage and Snapshots and use Resource monitor for monitoring VJBOD cloud volumes.
