Press Release: QNAP® Systems, Inc. (QNAP) officially releases the operating system QTS 5.1.0, designed for NAS, which includes significant improvements to applications, services and storage management to solve IT problems. With QTS 5.1.0, QNAP has strengthened its high-end NAS solutions compatible with 2,5GbE, 10GbE and 25GbE interfaces and added SMB Multichannel functionality to ensure increased network performance for demanding workloads.

"When developing QTS 5.1.0, we focused on performance optimization and cloud management to help organizations remove performance bottlenecks as well as maximize operational efficiency with cloud management tools," said Tim Lin, product manager of QNAP. Delivers: "We'd also like to appreciate the valuable feedback from the amazing beta testers of QTS 5.1.0 as it helped us complete this official release."

Key new features in QTS 5.1.0:

  • Queue Station with improved file management and search
File Station's new user interface allows users to quickly search for files that have been recently uploaded, accessed and deleted, as well as search for files using a wide range of search and sorting functions powered by the Qsirch full-text search engine.
  • SMB multichannel for maximum throughput and multi-path protection
The SMB Multichannel feature aggregates multiple network connections to maximize available bandwidth and achieve higher transfer speeds – ideal especially for transferring large files and multimedia. It also provides tolerance to network failures to prevent service interruptions.
  • AES-128-GMAC support for SMB signing acceleration
QTS 5.1.0 supports AES-128-GMAC signing acceleration (on Windows Server 2022® and Windows 11® clients only), which not only greatly improves data signing efficiency over SMB 3.1.1, but also improves NAS CPU utilization—and provides thus the best balance between security and performance.
  • QNAP Authenticator supports passwordless login
With the QNAP Authenticator mobile app, you can set up a two-step login process for NAS accounts, such as timed one-time passwords, QR code scanning, and login approval. Passwordless login is also supported.
  • Delegated administration increases administration productivity and ensures data security
NAS administrators can delegate 8 types of roles to other users and specify permissions for management tasks and data on the NAS. For growing organizations, role delegation helps make management easier without restricting data access control.
  • Automatic replacement of disks in a RAID group with spare disks before potential failure
When a potential disk failure is detected, the system automatically moves the data from the corresponding drive in the RAID group to a spare disk before the data on the corresponding disk is completely damaged. This prevents time losses and potential risks associated with RAID array recovery and significantly increases system reliability. QTS 5.1.0 offers several HDD/SSD health check tools such as SMART, Western Digital® Device Analytics, IronWolf® Health Management and ULINK® DA Drive Analyzer.
  • Improved disk health analysis and failure prediction
ULINK tool DA Drive Analyzer uses cloud-based artificial intelligence to predict disk failure. It is newly equipped with an advanced user interface that allows users to quickly find out information about drives in each position/slot, lifetime prediction scores, and drive data upload logs. DA Desktop Suite, compatible with Windows® and macOS®, makes it easy to monitor multiple devices for multiple users.
  • Monitor and manage multiple NAS with AMIZ Cloud management platform
The centralized cloud management platform AMIZ Cloud allows you to remotely monitor not only Network Virtualization Premise Equipment QuCPE, but also QNAP NAS. Enables remote monitoring of NAS resources and system health, performing firmware updates, and mass installing/updating/starting/quitting applications. In organizations with multiple workplaces or branches, IT staff can easily manage devices in multiple locations from a single point.
  • Improving intelligent surveillance at a much lower total cost with the Hailo-8 M.2 AI acceleration module
Adding the Hailo-8 M.2 AI acceleration module to the QNAP surveillance server will increase the AI recognition performance and the number of IP cameras that can simultaneously perform analysis for QVR Face face recognition and QVR Human people counting. With this solution from ONAP and Hailo, you get the most out of your investment compared to using the same amount of expensive AI cameras.
