Press Release: QNAP, a leading innovator in computing, networking and storage solutions, today introduced a new QGD-1600P manageable PoE switch. As the world's first smart edge switch, the QGD-1600P provides network management, data storage, and computing capabilities with support for QTS and virtualization. Compliant with the latest IEEE 1600bt PoE++ standard, the QGD-802.3P switch delivers up to 60W per port and offers a variety of Layer 2 management features. With built-in switch and NAS functions, the QGD-1600P also supports a variety of QTS and virtualization applications to provide IP surveillance, network security, storage expansion and wireless LAN management. In addition, the QGD-1600P enables remote central management via edge devices, enabling the acceleration of digital transformation for businesses with an established smart grid.

"The IT environment is constantly changing and the QGD-1600P has been designed to help businesses and organizations accelerate their digital transformation to incorporate a wide range of potential applications." said Bennett Cheng, product manager of QNAP, adding: "One of the key applications is surveillance, because with its 16 gigabit PoE ports, the QGD-1600P offers a great deal of connectivity and management functions for a stand-alone surveillance solution."

The QGD-1600P is equipped with 4-port 60W and 12-port 30W Gigabit PoE (with two combined PoE/SFP ports) and can deliver up to 370W to a larger number of power-hungry devices (PDs). With a quad-core Intel® Celeron® J4115 processor, Switch CPU and two SATA disk bays, the QGD-1600P will satisfy both network transfer and storage needs. With dedicated NAS processors and switch functions, the QGD-1600P runs QSS (QNAP Switch System) and QTS network management interfaces independently. The user-friendly QTS system and QuNetSwitch also significantly help small and medium-sized enterprises to easily implement a flexible and secure IT infrastructure.

With intelligent PoE management features (including PoE scheduling, power prioritization, and power disabling and enabling), IT staff can efficiently manage powered devices to support an energy-efficient PoE network. The PCIe expansion option allows the QGD-1600P to be expanded when using 10GbE network cards, dual-port QM2 M.2 SSD/10GbE cards, USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gb/s) cards, or wireless adapters.
